"Wait," Lisa said with surprise, "this is your friend's place?"

"Yeah. Why?"

"This is where Y/N got her dress for the Halloween party!" And then it clicked.

"I should have known that was one of her designs!" I chastised myself over and over for being an uneducated blind muggle for not realizing that sooner. We grabbed our bags and walked inside, my friend Jayden running to the front.

Jayden never ceased to amaze me with her personal style. As she approached it was hard not to notice her hair, which was colored in aurora hues. Greens and blues in a chaotic wave pattern fell over her shoulders with tiny star and dot clips strewn throughout, her bangs held back with a clip that held a clear bubble or resin with a tiny galaxy inside. She stopped in front of me and gave me a hug which I returned happily.

"Oh, my God, Reggie! Its been so long!" she said excitedly. "How have you been?"

"I can't complain. Well, about myself," I said. "About a certain store we just left, I can complain plenty."

"What happened?" she asked.

"Long story short: skinny bitches fat shaming." I was still fuming about that, but I did my best to try and hold those feelings back. I wanted Y/N to have fun with this rather than allow their comments to occupy her mind.

"I hate when fucking people do that," Jayden replied emphatically. "As if every male on the face of the planet wants a woman made of matchsticks."

Y/N chuckled. "Even the three little pigs knew you don't build something out of sticks if you're going to spend any time inside."

"Right?! Not every man out there wants a woman who appears to have been a high school skeleton display before they met them. Some guys out there also want to have a woman who can hold them at night and not poke them in uncomfortable places because they have bones barely staying beneath skin," Jayden said happily. "Some guys want a woman who they can cuddle with and get the feeling that the woman or man is a soft hugging pillow that's warm and has a heartbeat. Some want their partner to be more than just a trophy to show off because society wants to say that person is beautiful for being able to turn sideways, stick out their tongue and resemble a zipper."

"My baby boy got upset with Y/N here because she wanted to go on a diet," Lisa said with a smile. "He definitely falls into the latter category." Her comment made me laugh.

"Oh yeah. He would really love to be here to hear you refer to him as a baby boy."

"He might like it if Y/N called him that," Jayden interjected. "You should try it and see if he blushes...or more." She wiggled her eyebrows toward Y/N who blushed a bit while chuckling, The discomfort obvious in her lackluster amusement spurred me to get things moving.

"Right! So, we're here to see what you have in the way of a wedding dress for this blushing bride-to-be. Knowing it was you who helped her get that absolutely gorgeous dress for Halloween makes my confidence in you that much higher, so let's see what you have for her today." Jayden smiled brightly and led us to a section of the store I hadn't really been in before where dresses of white, cream, peach and lavender adorned racks and hung from the walls. I couldn't control the gasp that escaped me over the sheer beauty of the designs before me, and I knew from that moment we would find something that suited Y/N perfectly.

I knew I would be surprised by what was back here, but I didn't know I would immediately find I had no idea which one I wanted more. I saw one in pure white that I wanted, but then there was one lavender one I knew would look good on me. But then there was this cream colored one that had peaches and cream colored lace and pure white pearls and rhinestones on it that drew my eye. This was going to be much harder than I thought.

"Alright ladies," Jayden said, "grab a few you like and we'll get started on the choice first. Doesn't matter if it doesn't fit right off the bat because I can make adjustments with no trouble as long as I have more than a week to work on it."

"We're not going to do anything for about a month," Lisa said, "because the bride here still has to choose the colors she wants as well as patterns for her place settings, stemware and cutlery."

"And can't forget she also has to come up with a theme, DJ, father/daughter dance, flowers..."

"I get it, guys!" I said on a laugh. "I need to come up with this stuff. So why don't we just plan for a lunch sometime soon and sit down to figure some of this stuff out?"

"I have some ideas as far as who to go to for cakes, too," Jayden offered.

"That would be great!" Lisa happily exclaimed. "I already know who's doing the catering, so all we really have to come up with is the menu on that front, but we hadn't gotten to the cake yet. I'd appreciate it if you'd give me your contacts for that."

"No problem," Jayden said with a smile. "Now let's get to those dresses!"

I walked over and picked out the two that had caught my eye, but there was one more I hadn't expected to see and drew me in. The dress itself was this beautiful gown I was certain I couldn't possibly wear for my wedding, but Jayden must have figured out my issue.

"You know, Gothic weddings are pretty popular now," she whispered behind me. "If you like this dress, I'm certain everyone would love it." Without a second thought, I grabbed the dress and had Jayden put it in the dressing room before Lisa and Reggie could see it.

"This lavender one is really pretty!" I heard Reggie squealing at her find and winced at the idea of wearing lavender. It isn't a bad color, per se, but when I think 'wedding', lavender is usually a color that belongs solely to the bridesmaids. Lavender, pink, purple, yellow...all bridesmaids' colors. I cringed, but told her to give it to Jayden anyway. I can't break her heart considering that she brought me here.

"I found one in light blue," Lisa said from the other side of the store. Ok, add light blue to the list of bridesmaids' colors. It wouldn't have been good for me to scream what suddenly came to mind: this is a wedding, not a fucking Easter egg hunt! I remembered that Lisa came from a time where there weren't really wedding dresses originally, so a light blue dress was perfectly acceptable to wear. I didn't think I'd actually wear it because I'm not one who likes pastels, but I would at least try it on for Lisa to see. After all, she was soon to be my mother-in-law, so it would only be fulfilling my familial duty by taking her advice first before dismissing it right out of the gate.

"Once we figure out which dress you're going to go with, we'll look for all the accessories to go with it," Jayden announced with a smile. "Trust me, we'll deck you out with all the bells and whistles by the time I'm finished with you." I was scared at this point. Scared that she'd do exactly what she said she would and in record time.
