Reggie P.O.V.
Looking at my watch, I saw that it was nearly 1:30 in the afternoon which meant it was nearly time for Lisa and Y/N to show up. I looked around my office to make sure I wasn't leaving anything too difficult for the general manager to take care of, locked up the receipts and ledgers, turned off my computer and began to make my way to the front of the hotel. It wasn't a terribly busy day, but there were guests that were to come in later, a banquet planned for a business, caterers to greet and rooms to ready for their stay. All of these things could easily be handled by my right hand man, so I was certain things would run smoothly while I was away. Grabbing my keys out of my bag, I locked my office and walked toward the front desk to drop off the materials they'd need. Saying goodbye, I turned toward the door just in time to see Y/N's jalopy pull up in front. Smiling broadly I walked toward the rear passenger door.
"Hello, ladies!" I said as I entered. Once I had my seat belt on we started moving.
"How're you doing, Reg?" Y/N asked.
"Not too shabby," I replied. "How about you, Lisa?"
"I'm excited!" she smiled. "I can't wait to see dresses!" We laughed together and began speaking over what colors would be used for the wedding, the styles of dresses and what we think the guys may like.
"If it were up to Vlad, we'd all be wearing Victorian style dresses with high necks and dragging skirts," Lisa said. "He had always loved that damn style, but I hated it with a passion."
"I never really thought about how awful the Victorian style really was," I said. "I mean we see all these movies with women dressed in silk brocades and embroidered velvet, but we never really think of all the bullshit they had to go through to get into that dress."
"Yeah," Y/N said as she slid into the left turn lane. "I have worn a corset so I know the amount of pain that goes into that lovely piece of equipment."
"Equipment?" I asked. The phrasing seemed off for some reason and I was waited with bated breath to hear what she meant.
"Well, think about what it is. This is a piece of clothing specifically created to cinch a woman's waist and push up her breasts. Not only has it been known to cause women to faint due to lack of oxygen, but it was also well known that corsets often caused bruised organs, permanent damage to the digestive and reproductive systems and broken ribs. So, an item of clothing that was made to make women more beautiful for men was nothing more than an instrument of torture for the wearer."
"And that's why I don't care for Victorian style," Lisa admitted. "The clothing of the day did look beautiful, but some horrible things happened because of it. I know some women died because they wore corsets a little too tight to be able to fit into an older dress that came back into fashion."
"So no corsets for Y/N. Got it."
"That one that I wore with my dress for Halloween wasn't bad, though," Y/N admitted. "It didn't have the whalebone in it to cause too much pain, had some elastic portions to allow for more comfortable movement and hooked more like a bra in the front than a laced up corset."
"Maybe one of those to go with the new dress would be a good idea?" Lisa offered, Y/N and I agreeing almost immediately.
We pulled into a carpark that stood before a few specialty and high end stores, the bridal boutique and a very expensive shoe store standing side by side. Y/N looked at the buildings with dread and balked at walking in while Lisa and I pushed her toward the entrance. We giggled all the way to the doors while Y/N kept whining and spinning out of the way, Lisa and I barely catching her before she walked back toward the car. I couldn't help but laugh at her antics, but I also understood why she was doing so.
