Being a vampire now meant that I didn't really need to sleep as much as I used to, but I still found it quite enjoyable to be able to take rest in these modern beds. Throughout the centuries I'd had the misfortune of sleeping on some of the worst mattresses in creation stuffed with things like straw, feathers and even dirt. Pillows stuffed with hair had to be some of the most disturbing items I'd dealt with and often left me wondering if I'd walk away with some kind of disease after using them. But the closer we got to Y/N's time, the more we saw the differences she spoke of.

The cures for some diseases and maladies we'd long suffered throughout my youth were almost completely eradicated now. Fevers no longer as fatal. Syrups and tablets that stopped coughs and lungs filling with mucus and fluids. The technology that made everyday tasks and things so much easier to do. I still remember having to make my own brooms to clean around the home, but now they're mass produced and so easy to find. Cleaning products that work better than anything I've ever used before to sanitize and clean the home also made easily and readily available. It truly was a marvel.

And here we are now, finally reunited with Adrian and Y/N in an era where we've gotten used to having gadgets and things at our fingertips that we could never have imagined when Y/N had shown us before. I felt bad for Adrian being forced to get used to them now since he has only been here for a few weeks. It was as if we'd unfairly jumped ahead of him because we did take the long road to get here, but I knew better than to try to coddle him as I wished. I knew he throw a fit and swipe my hands away like he used to as a child. And, in a lot of ways, he still is that child that I'd barely let leave my maternal nest.

I got up from bed and began my usual morning routine only to smell the predicted cinnamon rolls that were mentioned the night before. Not only that, but bacon and fresh bread could be smelled wafting though the air. I couldn't disguise my smile as I pulled on my clothes and prepared to make my way out of the room.

"She's at it again, isn't she?" I heard the gruff voice of my beloved partially muffled by a pillow.

"Whatever do you mean, dear?" I asked with obvious humor.

"I swear," Vlad said as he pushed himself up to sit on the edge of the bed, "if she has her way, we'll all be far too expectant of food from now on."

"I wouldn't mind putting on a little weight if I could," I admitted. "I think I'd look cuter if I had a little pouch round the middle, don't you?" I rubbed my stomach as he stood from the bed and moved behind me. His arms draped over my shoulders and one hand easily engulfed the one rubbing my stomach.

"You were so beautiful when you were with child. You positively glowed every single day that I couldn't help by let my eyes rest on you when ever I saw you, and could never imagine a day without seeing your loving face. I wouldn't be a problem to get you pregnant again if that is your wish, my love."

"You flatter me, Vlad, but we both know you would have buried me under the next available tree if you were in the same room as me when I had gas," I laughed out. His laughter joined mine even as a kiss was placed on my neck.

"Ok, so I could live without that part, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't give you the world on a platter, the moon on a silver chain and the universe of stars in your pocket if I could. Its no more than you deserve for being the light to my darkness."

"Well, Mr. Darkness," I said with a smirk, "how about you get dressed and we go down for breakfast?"

"Right! Breakfast!" Vlad responded with a grin before he shot around the room as quickly as possible to get himself dressed. Not one to rest on his haunches like a panting dog, he was done in seconds and then tried shoving me out the door.
