It was difficult to say goodbye to Trevor and Sypha. It was incredibly difficult to leave behind people who have grown to be some of the best friends-perhaps even family-I've ever had. It wasn't something I wanted to cry over, at least in front of them, but missing them would be quite painful. Knowing that they'd eventually die long before I was even born, never really seeing their children unless there's some way to continually go back in time and advance slowly throughout their timeline, it would indeed be nearly impossible. I did say 'nearly', though.

"I'm glad we got everything for them when we did," Adrian said softly. "I know you didn't want to leave them, sweetheart, but we did promise your dad and mine that we'd leave as soon as we could.

~~Flashback Two Weeks Ago~~

"I know you two aren't going to want to hear this," Dracula began, "but you're going to have to leave as soon as we do."

"Why's that?" I asked. "It isn't like we'll be intruding on things there, and I'm sure they wouldn't mind us hanging back a bit."

"Not only that," Adrian said, "but now that she's been bitten by me, Y/N doesn't have the same issues with her system being able to withstand the times."

"Look, son. The reason you shouldn't stick around too long is because of the battle in Braila," he reasoned. "There may be unforeseen issues with the histories there thanks to Y/N's appearance there and her aiding with the battle. I already mentioned all of this to Isaac and Hector, but if her name shows up in the histories what do you think will happen when she goes on that archaeological trip?"

"And what about if people come to visit the castle and she's still there?" Lisa added. "It would throw things off completely if she stuck around and met too many other people."

"As is, it was torture going through all those in Braila and erasing her from their memories," Dracula admitted. "I didn't want them to forget anything, but I had to take out memories of my demise, the resurrection of Lisa and me and the arrival of Y/N here in their town. I wanted her to have all remember her for what she did for them, but you both have told me how things I did altered history and that everything we did was to set it back on course. And your father, as well." He ended by looking at me and I knew he was right.

"So, as soon as we leave, you need to follow quickly," Lisa said with sadness in her eyes and voice. "If you continue to stay here, you run the risk of being seen by someone, namely a Speaker, who may spread word of you in their spoken histories. The last thing you need is for them to find someone to write it down for them."

I sighed heavily. "Alright. As soon you leave, we will leave as quickly as possible. I'll ensure that all evidence of my arrival here is taken with me, with the exception of the gifts I gave Trevor and Sypha. Those I made as sure as possible that they'd be as close to this time as you could get."

"What about the glass writing pens?" Lisa asked, and Dracula looked on in interest.

"They started making those 100 years ago in Italy. You can go to Milan or Rome to find them." Both of them let out a sigh of relief and led us back to the wagon to finish loading.

~~End Flashback~~

No matter what I wanted, staying here in this time is less than ideal for fear that more history would be altered without meaning to. I couldn't leave a trace that I'd been here much less stay and let others see me and possibly alter history even more. I remembered making that promise. Vividly. Didn't mean I didn't like it, nor did it mean I wouldn't follow through. But that agreement we had about my departure from this time didn't stop the hurt I was feeling at leaving them behind. But even worse than that was that the Mirror would have to come with me.
