Flyseyes P.O.V.
The amount of us night creatures had been dwindled down to only a handful through the battle, the grisly remains of the others quickly taken away from the town and eaten by those of us who still lived. The snarling and gnashing of teeth quieted down after our meal, but there were still those who looked toward the townspeople as though they were their next one.
I pondered what it was that made us any better than those we had to kill, those of the other Forgemaster. We had been kept by Master and Dracula as a force that was needed, but now that our usefulness had come to an end, there were the dangers of our kind still hovering over these people.
We had been fed like pets by Y/N. No, not like pets. She never had that thought when she offered us food. She had attempted to keep things as civil and orderly as possible with our predisposition for the consumption of raw meat with her offerings, while not much, sustaining us and keeping our baser instincts at bay. We were treated as equals by her, even offered a sort of reprieve apart from destruction once everything was done. I, however, didn't believe that the reprieve was a good idea.
I know my kind for I am one. I know my predilection for human flesh was only barely staved. My mind constantly wound around in my head during the battle of those humans that had been hidden, those tasty morsels sitting in a dark room, cowering in fear of the very thing that made me what I am. I could feel my hunger rising with every moment even as I ate the humans that were left for us, all but the boy that was put aside for burial. I know my thoughts wandered to the children as I watched them run though the streets, the sound of their blood coursing through their veins, their shrieks of laughter sounding relatively similar to those of fear. Even now my stomach growls as I think about it, regardless of the fact that I've eaten my fill of every other offering we'd had.
I scanned through the town and found my master sitting with two women and a man we'd been told was another of my master's kind. Another Forgemaster. It was this other Forgemaster who made the creatures we fought with, and, to be honest, they were inferior creatures. The heart of the Forgemaster and the strength of his convictions are what make us stronger, which means his convictions weren't driving his creations. In my opinion, a Forgemaster that lacks conviction should also lack life, but as I look upon the man next to my master, it appears that he will live another day.
The other creatures were becoming far more restless with their thirst for blood and their endless desire for flesh, chaos and death rising with every moment. This meant that a decision would have to be made and quickly. I ran to my master as he conversed with everyone and watched as the two women cowered together in fear.
"Master," I stated clearly while attempting to keep my own instincts at bay, "the night creatures are restless. I fear they will soon break down and attack. Something must be done." My master sighed heavily, a look of disappointment on his dark skinned features.
"I thought this might happen and truly wished that it wouldn't," he said. I could hear the sadness in his voice. "I know that Y/N told you we would leave you all alive, but this is something that could completely destroy everything we worked so hard for. I would like for you to get the rest of the night creatures together and bind them. I will get my master and Y/N to tell them what has happened, and, hopefully, get this resolved before something horrible happens."
"Of course, Master," I said before turning to do as he asked. I would beg for my life to end as well, even though I know Y/N would try to fight it. As I walked over to where the rest were I thought back to what could have caused this sudden shift in my own nature. I had intended to do just as everyone had planned. I had intended to leave this place and live on elsewhere, but something must have happened to stop my mind from wishing for this.
