I didn't really need to know the reason why he felt so nervous, but I found that I wanted to hear it from his own perspective. I felt that if he could tell me, perhaps this ridiculous stand off that the two of us were in would finally resolve itself.

"I know this is going to sound horrible," Alucard said with pain in his voice, "but it's because I made a horrible mistake not long before you got here. That mistake has been weighing heavily on my mind ever since, and, unfortunately, I immediately threw the results of that on you. You didn't deserve it, but it was the only thing I could think of to do with strangers."

"I can understand," I replied as I reached back over to wet the cloth again. I could feel the shudder go through him as I leaned against him and hear the sigh as I righted myself to continue.

"I did something similar to you. For that, I have to say I'm sorry," I admitted. "The ex and several other bad encounters with overbearing assholes who thought that their shit didn't stink and their balls were enormous, kind of made me want to keep everyone at arm's length just to make sure I didn't get hurt again."

"You were hurt, too?" Alucard asked hesitantly.

"Oh yeah. Big time, but you already knew that" I said with a hint of anger. "I find it very difficult to trust anyone who says that they're attracted to me because the ex used to say how much they loved me and how they didn't want to live without me only to turn around and yell at me because he said I was lousy in bed and various other cut downs."

I could hear the man before me clear his throat and sigh heavily before he said, "I was betrayed. Horribly."

I stopped everything and moved around in front of him. Kneeling down, I looked him in the eye before I said, "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to."

"No," he said. "I'll tell you because you need to know why I've been such an insufferable prick to you for what seemed like no reason."

He took a deep breath and proceeded to tell me all about the kids that were impaled out front. How they'd lulled him into believing that they wanted to spend time with him for just being who he was, how they'd used the pretense that they were there to learn how to defeat the vampires in their country and finally how they'd used his body only to trap him and attempt his murder.

I couldn't help but blush at this knowledge. I wanted to not let my mind wander into the realm of fantasies, but seeing the man before me in his current state of undress, I found that I couldn't keep my mind from wandering toward what it would be like with him. Clearing my throat, I tried to distract myself by asking him a question.

"Wha-what do you mean?"

He looked up at me and shot me a slight smile. "Well, you see, I have this interesting issue. I was given a formula to help me age. What you see before you is a man of around 25 to 30. What I am chronologically is around 16."

My eyes widened at that little revelation. "So those two basically sexually abused a minor? Sick fucks!" I felt myself becoming even more angry at those two assholes.

"That explains the lawn decorations perfectly," I said after a few moments. This comment made a slight chuckle come from Alucard before he groaned and held his head.

"Yeah, but because of that I was having trouble admitting to myself that I found you attractive." Now I blushed even harder. This explains everything that happened the night before.

"I have been fighting with myself since the first day that I met you because you drew my attention," he continued. "You're so different from almost every woman I've ever met."
