"Derek what are you doing?" Meredith asked as she watched Derek slowly creep across their apartment.

Derek let his shoulders slump as he turned to Meredith, guilt on his face. He found Meredith stood there with her arms crossed across her chest.

"Nothing..." he replied, simply shrugging his shoulders.

"Right, so explain to me why you are out of bed, where you should be resting? You know Bailey only agreed to let you out of the hospital if you stayed in bed. So back to bed now." Meredith said, bossing him around.

"You're so sexy when you're bossing me around." Derek smirked at her before quickly winking at her.

"Seriously?" She said, not stopping the smile that came to her face as she rolled her eyes at him.

"Stop trying to flirt your way out of this, back to bed." Meredith said as she walked behind him, making sure he was actually heading back to bed.

"Mer, come on. I'm fed up of looking at the same four walls all day, at least let me sit in the living room. I think my brain might actually be turning into mush." He said as he turned to face her, finding her with her hands on her hips.

"No, cause you won't just sit. Now get back into bed before I phone Bailey and have you readmitted to the hospital." She smiled smugly up at him, watching as he mumbled under his breath before eventually climbing back into bed.

"I hate you." Derek said as he finally settled down in bed.

"No you don't, you love me." Meredith said as pulled the blankets up before sitting next to him, taking his hand in hers. "You know I'm only doing this because I love you right?" Meredith asked as she ran her thumb across the back of his hand.

"Mer." He reached his free hand out and lifted her chin up so their eyes met. "Of course. I can't even begin to imagine how scary it must have been for all of you. But I'm still here. I'm not going anywhere ok." He pulled her in and kissed her lips, keeping them pressed together, never wanting to forget this feeling.

"You're right." Meredith said as she pulled away. "You're not going anywhere, you are staying right here in bed." She said tapping his cheek lightly before getting up and walking away laughing.

"You're evil." Meredith heard Derek shout behind her as she started swaying her hips, suggestively.

She broke out into a giggle as she heard him groan in frustration. Shaking her head, she moved to the nursery and found Morgan still napping so she decided she would finally use this time to catch up on some washing.

When she was currently in the process of folding Derek's clothes there was a knock on the door. Meredith hesitated, not knowing who it could be. Walking slowly to the door, she slowly pulled it open, keeping herself protected.

"Meredith, please. It's me Melissa. I need to speak to you." Meredith's body relaxed a bit as she pulled the door open and came face to face with a broken and exhausted looking Melissa.

"Whatever you've got to say I don't want to hear it." Meredith went to shut the door but was stopped by Melissa's hand.

"Meredith, I'm not here to cause anything. I'm here to say sorry. Finn, he turned up at my house covered in blood and he told me what he did. I can't even imagine how it must have been for you and Derek. I didn't even hesitate to turn him into the police, he's gone out of your life for good Meredith. He won't ever bother you again. So again, I'm sorry. So, goodbye, I guess." Melissa smiled forcefully before turning and heading out of your apartment.

"Meredith, who was it?" Meredith turned as she heard Derek's voice behind her.

"He's gone." She smiled as happy tears ran down her face. "Finn is in jail, he won't be bothering us ever again." She closed her eyes and sighed with relief.

That's when she felt, Derek's arms wrapped around tight, pulling her into his body. She immediately wrapped her arms around him and let her tears soak his top as she breathed in his scent.

"Here's to us." Derek said as he pulled back and cupped her cheeks in his hands.

"Our future." Meredith responded as she kissed him quick before letting herself be wrapped in his arms again.

It was finally over. No longer would her past haunt her. She was free. Free to live her true life, with Derek and Morgan.
