Frost led them through the dark tunnel, her lights steady and calm. Tommy found his body start to relax and with it came heavy exhaustion. Frost glanced at him and a soft grin filled her face. Those sharp teeth glistened in the faint light.

"Don't worry, Tommy, we're almost there." She said and took another turn. "Do you want to give your friend to me for a while?"

Tommy studied her.

"No thanks, I'm fine." He said after a moment. He was not going to hand Bad to a stranger, especially not someone with such big teeth.

Frost let out a bark of laughter and Tommy couldn't help but smile at the rowdy sound.

"It's okay, I don't bite." She stopped and shook her head, smiling broadly. "Actually I do, but I won't bite your friend."

Tommy looked at her skeptically and then at Bad.

He nodded tiredly and Frost took Bad from him, cradling him gently to her chest. Tommy saw her claws retract and her movements become fluid and controlled.

"It's just past this corner." Frost said, indicating to the junction ahead with a flick of her chin.

Tommy nodded and they walked on in silence.

...

"Welcome to my humble abode." Frost said as they slipped into a slim tunnel.

They emerged into a small cave, lit only by vines and golden berries. Glowberries.

There was a bundle of blankets in one corner that served as a makeshift bed. A closet sat against one wall and a torn rug lay on the floor. A small layer of dust coated the cave and the vines were overgrown, digging their roots into the walls.

Tommy saw there was even a small microwave on a cabinet. Where was she getting electricity from? Also why was there random road signs decorating the walls?

Tommy decided not to ask and simple watched as Frost put Bad on the blankets. As she stepped away, Tommy came up and threw a blanket over Bad, pulling it up to his chin.

At least his friend could recover now.

"Hey do you want something to eat? I can go hunting?" Frost asked and Tommy jumped. He had forgotten she was there.

"Yeaaah, I'll go hunting, you sleep." She said and nodded decisively.

Tommy found he didn't have the strength to argue and simply lay down beside Bad, snuggling under the blanket.

The last thing he saw before falling asleep was Frost leaving the cave, slipping back into the sewers.

Where the heck was she going to go hunting?

...

Technoblade sat by the glass and spoke with Wither. It had been a full week since they met and he found himself forgetting he was dying when he spoke to her. Sure, they didn't physically speak but the understood each other on another level other than sound.

She had told him many things about the Lab they were at. Apparently it was the biggest one in the world, holding over two-thousand hybrids and halflings.

The scientist, or coats as Wither called them, had made a formula that could turn hybrids into people. Using an unknown mineral from deep into the earth, they created a thin dust that they put into bullets.

Techno remembered the explosion as they had entered the building that night. It had been made not to harm but to shower them all with purple powder.

Technoblade remembered the confusion on his face as his body fell limp and a horrendous pain had racked his limbs, sending him into a spasm. It was only darkness after that.

When he woke up, he was here and the cancer was back, eating at his life expectancy.

At least he had someone to spend his final days with.

Hey, you blanked out again.

He looked at Wither, deep into those blue eyes and found tears pooling in his own. Why was it now, that he had found someone who understood him so well, maybe even better than he understood himself, sickness was takin him away.

Yeah, sorry, just thinking.

Wow, really?

He let out a soft laugh.

Sarcasm is my thing, that's plagiarism.

She smiled.

Technoblade had opened up to her more than he had for anyone else. She knew more about him than anyone, maybe even Phil. He didn't know why though..

Did he want someone to remember him?

Did he want someone to know that he had done what he had thought was right?

Did he only want someone?

Should he tell her?

No. If he told her and then immediately died, it would be unfair to her.

He couldn't do that to her, no matter how much he... he... loved her?

Did her love her?

Yes. There was no doubt in his mind. He loved her so much.

He would give the world to her if she asked it, would give his heart in her hands. Would die for her.

Right...

He was never going to be able to die for her...

Technoblade sighed and tapped back, trying to keep the conversation light. Even as he felt himself start to fade, his strength start to crumble.

For her, the world.
