A oneshot for HHYtheking
Timmy's POV
I was walking down the streets of Crimson Banks. It was cold, the December night was probably so cold it was below freezing or even in the negatives. I need to find somewhere to sleep for the night. I give a tug of my cap and pulled my shirt tighter around myself. Hmm. I need to figure out what I'm going to eat tonight too. Knowing my luck it will probably be nothing. I haven't eaten in a few days. If my luck is good, I can beg someone for enough money to buy a meal or reach the bridge I normally stay at before any other of the street kids take all of the space up. I continued to march through the streets. Ever since my parents died, I've been on my own. It's been just little ole me! I turned down the street, walking to the nearby bridge I personally favorite. I walked over to the bridge and frown. I was too late. There's no space left. I guess I could stay near the cafe. I can see if that works. There's a cafe I like to go to, it's called 'The Concordian Pause', it's a very nice place. They have very good meat pies, they're delicious. I hummed as I hurried over to the cafe. I tightened my grip on my newspaper satchel. I don't want to lose anything and I don't want anyone to steal anything from me. I can ruffle through the trash can to see if I can find anything for free and something that wasn't rotten. I snuck around back and began rummaging through the trash can. I was trying to be quiet so I wouldn't draw attention to myself. I found a half-eaten pie. I carefully take it out of the trash and hold it in my hands. It doesn't look like it's bad or that anything else had gotten on it. I was about to bite into it when I saw something move. I close my mouth and watched as a maggot squirmed out of one of the cracks. Ew. I gagged and dropped the now obviously rotten meat pie on the ground. I tried not to puke, swallowing the bile that was building up. I ignore it and began to resume searching the trash can. I hear the door that leads into the cafe start to shake as the doorknob rattled. I froze and then watched as the door swung open. A pretty girl was looking at me. I dropped whatever was in my hands.
"Hey! What are you doing? Please, don't rummage through the trash."- The girl says.
"I... I'm sorry... I'm just hungry..."- I say quietly, knowing that I'm probably going to be kicked out with a broom to my caboose.
"Well, why don't you come into the front and order something instead of trying to eat some garbage?"- She asks.
"I mean... I would... but... I don't have any money."- I reply.
"Oh, that's fine! Why don't you sit inside and wait for an hour? We're going to close soon and I'll give you something from whatever we don't sell."- The girl replies.
"You'd... really do that?"- I ask, raising an eyebrow at her.
A bright smile formed on the girl's face. "Mhmm! Of course!"- She replied.
"Oh. Thank... thank you Miss!"- I reply.
"Come on in, it's freezing outside."- The girl says, motioning to the door.
I get up from my crouched position. The girl wandered into the back of the cafe. I followed her and the door shut behind me with a soft thud. The girl leads me to the front of the cafe. There were a few chairs and tables scattered around the front area. The girl walks over to the counter filled with pastries, coffee and teas, and the delicious pies they have. She stood behind the counter and motioned for me to sit at one of the tables. I obliged her request and sat down.
"So, why were you digging through the trash? Do you always rummage through garbage to get your meals?"- The girl asked.
"Well, not all the time, just most of the time."- I reply.
