Homecoming Disaster

Adelaine's POV

We were currently sitting in our first period. Hugh and I shared a lot of the same classes and this was one of them. We were listening to the morning announcements. The school year was almost over. It's soon. I try not to drone out the news. However, the announcements could also be about homecoming. The principal announced that we would finally be having our homecoming. The school's been trying to put on this dance for months, but for the past two months, we've been having tornados and thunderstorms. We would get so close to having the dance, but then a terrible weather event would happen and ruin everything. My ears picked up the intercom buzzing the work 'homecoming'. I looked up, staring up at the intercom. The cheerful announcer then began rattling off names of people nominated for homecoming queen and homecoming king. I was in the running for homecoming queen. A few other girls were in the running, but not any other names that I recognize. My sweet and precious Hugh was in the running for homecoming king. I blow him a kiss as his name was called and he blushed. Another name was said that was running for homecoming king. Audrey was sitting next to me and she rolled her eyes. Matthew Baldwin has been nominated for homecoming king? Seriously? How did he get nominated? Who nominated him? Ew! Later on, at lunch, we were discussing the nominations.

"I'm so happy that you are in the running for homecoming queen, Adelaine!"- William says.

"It's absolutely splendid that you are in the running!"- Hugh replies.

"Yes, so I can get crowned next to you!"- I reply, kissing him on the cheek.

"Oh, yes! It will be so much fun to dance next to you, especially with new crowns on our head."- He replied.

"That crown will be beautiful on your head."- I reply, giggling.

"Yeah, it will be nice on your head as well."- Hugh replies.

"Who else was nominated as queen?"- Jackson asked.

"I don't remember any other names."- Frances replied.

"Me neither."- Lily replies.

"It was probably some people we didn't know."- Charles says.

"Oh, who cares about them? We know that Adelaine has our votes!"- Sean cheered.

"You are always so sassy. While that might be true, you could have said it in a nicer way you know."- William replies.

"We're talking between ourselves. You think I care who hears?"- Sean replies.

William giggled. "Honey-bunny, please, you can be nicer."- He says.

"So?"- Sean asked.

"You'd do it for me though, wouldn't you?"- William asked.

Sean's face softened. "Well... I guess I'd do it for you."- He mutters.

"You mean, you will."- William says, giggling some more.

"I will. I will sweetheart."- Sean replies.

"Can we talk about the real issue here though?"- Audrey asks.

"You mean that awful monster being nominated for homecoming king?"- Sean asked.

"You think of a lot of things really."- Sammy mumbled.

"I do."- Sean replies.

"Can you believe it?"- Lexi asks with an eye-roll.

"No, I can't. I hate how he was nominated."- I say.
