Cathy's POV
I can't believe that I finally graduated from college! It feels so good to get out and away from the craziness of Grimsborough University! I finished my degree, gosh, I'm so proud of myself. I'm still living with my grandfather, Samuel King. Living with him can get exhausting, we do butt heads at times, but I still love him. Even though I rebel a lot. Like with Alex. He doesn't like that I'm dating him, he's very protective of me. I think he's coming around to it though, Alex is a really great guy! Who couldn't love the guy? I sometimes wish that I could spend every single second with him. I can't spend tonight with him though, I have plans. I have plans to go to a party! Some of my friends from college invited me to go, so I happily accepted the invitation. I haven't told my grandfather that I was going. I should get ready though. I shower, making sure that I wash my body and hair. I dry myself off, drying my hair, then decide to fix my hair. I brush and toy with my hair until I am satisfied with it. I get dressed, slipping a bra, underwear, and a party dress over my small frame. The dress was pure glitter and went just past my knees. I grab a clutch bag, sticking my phone, ID, and wallet inside it. I should find pink shoes to go in my pink dress! I found a pair of heels that perfectly match my dress. Wonderful! I hum in excitement as I walk out of my room. My grandfather was sitting on the couch, flipping through the evening newspaper. I walked into the kitchen, noticing that the keys to his car were sitting on the kitchen counter. I don't have a car yet, so the two of us share it. If I can't borrow it, I can always call Alex.
"Cathy, what are you doing dressed like that?"- A stern voice asks.
I turn to the voice and my grandfather stood in the doorframe, his arms crossed.
"I have plans to go to a party!"- I reply.
"A party? What kind of party is it? Were you going to tell me about this?"- My grandfather asks.
"Of course I was! It's a normal party, we aren't going to do anything bad. Well, I'm not at least, I have to get home somehow. I'm an adult with a degree, you aren't going to stop me from going to this party!"- I reply.
"I know that Cathy, I just want you to be home by a certain time."- He replies.
"I still have a curfew?- I laugh quietly to myself -what time must I be back by?"- I inquire.
"Just be back by midnight, I want to make sure that you are home by the time I get to bed. You can do that for me, yes?"- My grandfather says.
"Alright. I'll be back by midnight like Cinderella. Can I borrow the car?"- I respond.
"No. The car is low on gas. Can you call a ride? I really don't want you borrowing the car."- He returns.
"I'll see if I can."- I mumble.
"I shall see you when you come back!"- My grandfather replies, giving me a small smile as he left.
"Okay... I see if Alex can come with me."- I hum.
I take out my phone and I called Alex. It rings once and twice then he picks up. He was happy to hear from me although he sounded tired. I ask if he wasn't busy, asking if he could pick me up and take me to that party. Alex said that he would if he could but that he was indeed busy. I picked up on the sound of keys being pressed as if he was typing. He then adds that he was at work. I pout although he couldn't see me. I ask how much longer he had on shift and he mutters that he had a few hours left. I guess that I will find another way. He apologizes, wishes me luck, and promises that we would hang out soon. I hang up after 'I love yous' were exchanged. Now, what am I going to do? I can't take a taxi, they don't come to this area. I can't call any of my friends, I don't want to bother them. It is a far drive from here to the party. Or I could... take the car. I could always just get gas on the way home. It's late and I could definitely keep a secret! I can do it. It's not like I haven't done it before. I snatch up the keys, peeking around the corner to make sure that my grandfather had gone back to his bedroom. He had, perfect! I walk out of the door and went to the car. I get into the old Crown Vic, inserting the keys into the ignition. I pull out of the driveway, making sure that I was away from the house before I turned the headlights on. I follow the speed limits and all to make sure I wasn't pulled over by the cops.
