A oneshot for darlynmaedg

Jones' POV

I have a dilemma. There's something that I need to get rid of. Well, it's rather someone that I need to get rid of, but it's not much of a difference. He's a monster so he doesn't deserve to be classified as human, even though he still technically is. The man I have such a grudge against is Milton Grimmes, the leader of the Crimson Order. He's hurt too many people. He ruined so many things and caused too much harm and destruction. Worst of all, he's threatened me and my family one too many times. The police that I work for can barely stand on its two feet against them, since our head was once a part of them. It's time I take things into my own hands. I can figure out more about him than they ever could. It's time I do this vigilante-style!

I've been through a lot, yet the Crimson Order threatening my family, the one thing I hold so dear and close to me, is going way too far. I suppose I should explain a few things and why him threatening my family hurts so much. I was married to Charlotte at one point, we had a son named Roderick. I also have an older son, Roderick's half-brother, Reynold Waygetter from another woman before Charlotte. After we divorced, I fell in love with Veronica Read, a Grimsborough Police Department Captain. She is a beautiful 27-year-old woman with shoulder-length brown hair and green eyes. The love of my life. I mean it seriously this time. A hand brushed against my cheek.

"Everything okay over here, David?" A voice asked.

I turned to see my beautiful girlfriend, Veronica, gently caressing my cheek. She was wearing her usual clothes, a dirty cream-white button-up shirt with rolled-up sleeves. Her gray sports bra could be seen through her shirt. She wears black leggings and brown bucket-top boots. As Captain, she sports a maroon jacket with an ochre collar and gold buttons. She also wears a dark turquoise tricorn hat. Her fashion sense might strike others as odd, but she's beautiful to me. I love her to death. I'd do anything to not see her go to harm.

"Yes, I'm alright. Just thinking." I reply.

"Thinking? About what??" Veronica queries.

"The Crimson Order," I answer.

A sigh escapes her lips. "Yes. I know they've been on everyone's mind. Don't worry so much though, that's how people get destroyed by their work. We'll catch them soon."

"Not soon enough for me. Too many people have died at their hands!" I retort.

"There's nothing more that we can do about it though." She says.

"I feel like we could do more, I disagree," I reply.

"Then we can agree to disagree." Veronica huffs.

"Did we get another one of those letters in the mail today?" I ask, changing the subject.

She bites her lip. "Yes. We did."

Without looking at her I said, "What did it say?"

"It was threatening alright, just like the others," Veronica responds.

"Was it signed by the rose and compass?" I question.

"The symbol was all over the letter." She hums.

"What did it exactly say?" I ask.

"They were wanting my head on a platter, they said they would have your spine ripped out, and they wanted to riddle the kids with bullets," Veronica explains.

I feel my blood start to boil. I take a deep breath and it was long and hard. I met eyes with her and she responds by coming over to hug me, pressing a kiss on my forehead.
