A/n: I imagined the shop assistant from the end of the chapter as Wonder Girls' Ahn So-hee. It's not really that important, but you sometimes ask me so thought I should tell you.
While working on the songs for the evaluation, the day to film the dance video for «Anyone» came and they all had to go to Seoul as they would be filming at the Mercedes-AMG speed track. Although they would be filming in the afternoon, they went to Seoul in the morning so they could go to the hairdresser as well as get their clothes before going to the actual speed track for rehearsals, so they split up between teams, and Heejin went with those going to the hairdresser.
"How do you want your hair, dear? Just a bit of a trim?" the hairdresser asked her as she put on the cape. "Maybe bangs?"
"I want to cut it short," she said, startling the stylist. "With a longer layer on top that reaches around the bottom of my ear and then shorter layers below. Something like this."
Since it was quicker to show her one from the internet, she quickly searched for one from Hyunjin since he had once had the hair she liked the most and the hairdresser quickly started working on it. It was not anything complex whatsoever and she was not even dyeing her hair, which she thanked as that meant she would have to spend less time with someone touching her hair.
"I have to admit I was a bit sceptical when you told me you wanted this haircut, but now totally get why," the hairdresser told her as she did the finishing touches. "You look even better now! It frames your face beautifully."
"Thank you, I guess." Heejin smiled.
It was a major step for her, and she was incredibly happy she had taken it. To many other people it was just hair, but to her it was her identity, and she felt cutting it was a step forward in going back to who she really was. She was glad that Hikaru told her she looked good with long hair and she liked being praised for how she looked with it, but it did not feel like being herself.
As soon as she was done with her haircut, she approached Eunae, who was dyeing her hair at that moment. Only Iku, Eunae and her were getting their hair done and Iku had finished earlier since she was just touching up her roots, so they were the only ones left at the hairdresser.
"You look beautiful, Heejin," Eunae told her, tearing up. "You are back."
"It feels more natural this way, doesn't it?" Heejin asked her with a smile. "I can't believe I've done it."
"I don't know what finally made you do it, but I'm glad whatever it was. This is the Heejin I know and love."
The biggest reason was Axel, of course it was. While the others talked about how they liked how she looked with long hair Axel blatantly told her that it was not who she was. He managed to voice what she could not admit just like he always seemed to be able to do. That was what she missed about him the most. Sure, they had only broken up a month and a half before, but that did not mean it was not enough to miss each other and to miss moments like that. On top of being a couple they too had become best friends, and losing a best friend is like losing a part of yourself.
