"And I walk like a lion, I'm making my own history..." Jake sang as they rehearsed «Blessed-Cursed» the following day. "Please, let's take a break. I'm running out of breath."
He had said that while keeping the melody of the song, making the girls laugh. That day they had switched, and Jake was with Onyx while Sunghoon was with Sapphire, so Jake had joined them after they had learnt the dances, meaning they just kept repeating them over and over again.
Although they were having fun and stopped often, as they technically did not have anything else to do the girls of Onyx kept rehearsing the choreographies. That day they chose to just practice upstairs on the rooftop as they had a lot of space there and they could see the sea from there, so they were also still in the guest house and could take breaks to do whatever they pleased.
"You should have chosen one of the songs with cute concepts," Jake told them as they all took a break. "Something a bit more different from the things you've been doing."
"Something like «Chamber 5»?" Heejin asked and did the dance.
"Seriously, how can you remember those choreographies? I can't even remember them and they are my groups'!"
"I just do, for some reason. I really put a lot of effort into learning the choreos from I-Land," she admitted. "But, anyway, let me get my laptop. I'll be right back."
Although it technically was not hers, Heejin had picked up one of the laptops that were for the show almost on the first day to make music and did not get the chance to even return it since she was always using it. When the staff packed her bag for the surprise trip they had packed it as well, so she wanted to use the break to start working on a song or continue working on the ones she already had.
"Where the magic begins!" Jake said as Heejin sat down and turned on the laptop. "What will you show us today?"
"I was just going to work on whatever. I didn't have anything planned, to be honest," she explained. "We need to work on the song for the last show, but we haven't yet talked about it and we don't even know if we need to work on a certain concept or something, so it's useless to start working on it now."
"Do you have any new drafts?" Juiyu asked her. "I know you've been working on some songs apart from the ones from the program."
"There are a couple, but nothing really interesting, to be honest," she admitted. "They are both from the time I was trying to work on my solo song. I didn't know what to do with either, so they didn't make it."
"Can we listen to one?" Jake asked her. "The one you like the most."
She did not really mind if they listened to them, but she genuinely did not know which one to choose. One of them was more upbeat while the other one was more intimate and quieter, so they were vastly different and could not be compared. In the end, however, she chose to show them the second one.
The instrumental was not complex at all, but Heejin thought it was perfect for a relaxing evening or a day working. It seemed like most songs at that time were all too upbeat, so she wanted to create something that slowed down the pace; that let people ponder for a while instead of just rushing.
"I really like it," Eunae said as they listened to the track. "I don't know why but I'm thinking of a duet rather than a solo or a group song while listening to it."
"Yeah, me too," Jake agreed. "And maybe some contemporary dancing too."
She had not even thought about making it a duet, so she then tried to imagine it that way and felt a rush of inspiration; the one she had not had when she first made it. She was already getting ideas for the lyrics, so she quickly took out the notebook Jake had gifted her at the beginning of the show and wrote down all that came to her mind at that moment.
