The next morning, back at the program, the girls were allowed to stay in bed for longer yet Heejin had not even gone to sleep after arriving at nearly four. She was thinking about what happened and what she had seen and processing everything, so she could not seem to be able to fall asleep and just went to the greenhouse -which had quickly become her favourite spot to just relax- at around half-past seven.
From the very first day she had thought the place was enchantingly beautiful, but during sunrise it felt like she entered a movie set. The early morning sunrise hitting the windows were starting to warm up the greenhouse after the cold night with the windows open, and the gentle sound of birds chirping paired with the golden sunrays made it the most magical place she had ever been before.
Heejin did not waste any second and headed to the piano upon her arrival to start improvising something. She had nothing in mind, and she did not even want to create a song with it, so she just sat in front of the piano and let her fingers dance around the keys while looking around the room and taking in the beautiful scenery in front of her.
(A/N: I just had to put Jacob Collier somewhere or I would burst 😂. Honestly, if you are interested in music and don't know about him, you should check out his stuff. Now, let's continue where we were at.)
Playing music like that was hypnotic to her. She could only concentrate on the music and everything else around her almost disappeared. She went into a parallel world in which there was nothing but music and sound. It was like dreaming awake but having full control of that dream.
Being so concentrated on it, however, meant that although she had her eyes open she could not see or hear anyone joining her inside the greenhouse. While she played, trainees from Cosmos had heard her and gone inside to listen closely, and when she finally finished playing and snapped out of her trance, she saw six people looking at her.
"Wow... you are an amazing player..." one of them said, breaking the silence.
"H-how long have you been here...?" Heejin asked as she awkwardly scratched her neck.
"We were just about to head to the trainees' den and heard some music, so we could not help but come," another one answered. "Sorry if it made you uncomfortable."
"No, it is okay, I suppose..." Heejin stood up. "I guess I was making too much noise. It is hard to control the volume sometimes when you are really into what you are playing."
"Do you have any musical training?" the first one asked again.
"Just the one I got at MusiQ, well and some violin one from before that. How old are you, by the way? I do not know how to address you."
"We are all younger than you. We are from 2013 and 2012, so fifteen and sixteen. You are a 2007 liner, right?"
"Why do I feel old now?" Heejin said, even though she was only twenty-one. "Anyway, I don't have any musical training aside from the one at MusiQ and the one I was able to get during my high-school years. Everything I know about playing instruments basically comes from ResQ."
"MusiQ sounds like such a cool place..."
"It actually really is." Heejin walked to the couches and sat with them. "When I first joined it was lonely, but as soon as more trainees arrived the place was full of joy. There were no such thing as stressful evaluations or fights between trainees back then. It really was something special."
