Taehyung entered the house after his day of work and was immediately greeted by Caleb running towards him. "Daddy!" Caleb jumped so Taehyung would catch him and immediately hugged him as tightly as he could. "I missed you!"

"I missed you too!" Taehyung assured the four-year-old as he carried him into the kitchen where Austin was sitting at the table doing a math worksheet and Kortni was standing by the counter staring at her phone. When she realized her fiancé was home, she quickly locked the device and slid it back in her pocket, accepting a kiss from him. "Anything important?" Taehyung asked as Kortni turned back to finish up dinner, which he quickly realized was chicken enchiladas. Kortni had always been a fan of Mexican food and had asked Sophia to give her a few lessons to be able to make her favorite dishes properly, and Tuesday nights were dedicated to those dishes.

Kortni quickly shook her head, not looking at Taehyung as she responded. "Nah, it was just an email from the principal about the Thanksgiving 'feast' they're doing on Friday." Taehyung had an idea of what she really had been looking at on her phone but opted not to bring it up in front of the boys.

"Daddy!" Caleb got Taehyung's attention again. "Come look at my wecycle box!" Caleb wiggled until Taehyung put him down on the ground, at which point he grabbed his dad's hand and led him to the corner of the kitchen where a small box decorated with stickers and filled with a few papers and an empty bottle of water sat on the floor.

"They learned about recycling today in school." Kortni spoke up after asking Austin to go put his homework away so they could eat. "He's been so excited to show you his box since I picked him up."

Taehyung smiled at his son and squeezed him in a small hug. "This is such a cool recycling box, Caleb!" Taehyung praised the preschooler, who beamed proudly. "I like these apple stickers."

Taehyung continued to talk about the different parts of the box he liked until Austin came back in the room and asked him if he could help him finish his math sheet after they finished eating. They enjoyed their dinner and went through their typical evening routine of helping Austin finish his homework and playing with the two boys until it was time for them to go to bed. After taking a shower, Taehyung went back to their room to see Kortni sitting up in their bed, already in her pajamas, but obviously not quite ready for sleep. She had some math worksheets sitting on her lap, half of them already graded, the other half left forgotten as she was once again staring at her phone screen. "Looking at that same email?" Kortni jumped slightly at Taehyung's question, having been so entranced by what was on her screen that his voice had startled her. From the look on Taehyung's face, it was obvious that the excuse wouldn't work again, so she just sighed and set her phone to the side. "Just call her~" Taehyung had taken the sigh as confirmation that Kortni had been staring at her mother's number while having an internal debate on whether or not to call her.

"I want to, I really do!" Kortni exclaimed, setting the worksheets to the side as Taehyung climbed in bed next to her. "There's just something holding me back from doing it."

"That would be fear of rejection." Taehyung said only slightly teasingly, turning on his side to face her and wrapping his arm around her waist.

Kortni sighed again. "You're right. I really want her to know the boys and be in their lives, and I definitely want her at our wedding, but I'm afraid she'll say no and slam the door in my face again."
