Sammie was extremely quiet as she and Jake arrived at the dog park, Jake's dog, Riley, already tugging at the leash, impatient to be set free to run around the area to her heart's content. "You okay?" Jake asked once they were inside and the gate was closed, crouching down to undo the basset hound's leash. "You've been quiet, which is very unlike you."

"Yeah, I'm fine~" Sammie said, but from the look Jake sent her, she knew he wasn't buying it.

Once Riley had run off, joining the other dogs already in the park, Jake led Sammie over to one of the benches, pulling her to sit next to him. "Tell me~"

Sammie took a deep breath. "You have to promise not to freak out or anything."

At those words, Jake shot her a worried glance. "Just that statement makes me want to freak out."

"Jake, I'm serious." She stared at him until he agreed not to freak out. She took another deep breath, attempting to calm herself before blurting out, "I'm pregnant~"

Jake's eyes widened immediately, and he sat up straight. "Do what now?"

"I am so sorry~" Sammie whispered, already starting to tear up. She started to ramble without giving Jake the chance to respond again. "I know this, like ruins everything-"

Jake cut her off. "No, no, no, don't apologize!" He wrapped his arm around her and pulled her close, rubbing her arm in a soothing way. "But...are you really pregnant? Like, for real?" Sammie nodded, brushing her hair out of her face. Jake took a few seconds to process the information, but when he had, he cursed quietly under his breath. "What are we gonna do?"

Sammie felt her heart flutter at her boyfriend's use of 'we', but her other emotions over the whole situation drowned out that feeling. "I don't know~" Sammie shrugged. "No matter what we decide to do, we'll have to tell our parents."

Jake nodded in agreement, his eyes giving away just how scared he was, but he was obviously suppressing those feelings for his girlfriend's sake. "The sooner the better, right? That way they can help us decide what to do."

"Yeah, the sooner the better." Sammie agreed quietly.

"Hey," Jake whispered, pulling her even closer to him. "It'll be okay, I'll be here for you every step of the way." He pressed a kiss to her temple, rubbing his thumb along her upper arm.

The next few days, Sammie kept trying to work up the courage to tell her parents but chickened out every time. It never seemed like the right time to tell them, and she had even seriously considered just waiting until she started showing to tell them. However, the time to tell them came in the form of a knock on the door as she was assisting her dad in making dinner as Thursdays were her mom's late day at the preschool.

Yoongi went to answer the door, surprised to see his daughter's boyfriend and his dad standing on their porch. Jake was avoiding looking anywhere near Yoongi while his father was very obviously angry over something. "Can I help you?"

"Yeah, you can keep your daughter away from my son!" At that outburst, Sammie abandoned her task and ran out of the kitchen.

"Excuse me?" Yoongi asked, attempting to keep calm as he could sense not only the daughter in question, but his other daughters creeping out of their rooms to see what was going on.

Jake looked briefly, just long enough to make eye contact with Sammie before looking away again. "Claiming the baby is his? That little whore is just trying to ruin his chances of getting a football scholarship, and I'm not letting it happen!"

Yoongi's features hardened as he heard someone insult his little girl. "Don't ever talk about my daughter that way. And I have no idea what baby you're talking about."

Silent tears were already rolling down Sammie's face as Jake's father made one final statement. "Tell that bitch to find someone else to pin her pregnancy on!" Yoongi couldn't even respond as the man dragged Jake off the porch and to his truck.

Yoongi slammed the door, ready to ask Sammie what the hell was going on, but froze, features automatically softening as he saw his oldest child sobbing uncontrollably. "Daddy~" She squeaked out, and Yoongi immediately rushed to pull her into his arms. "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to, don't hate me!"

"Shh~" Yoongi ran his fingers through her hair as he tried to console her. "I could never hate you." He said quietly, looking over to where his other two daughters were watching on with wide eyes. He gestured for them to go back to their rooms as he led Sammie to the couch to try to calm her down.

The weekend passed quickly, and Sammie was sure that her entire family now knew of her situation, starting with telling her mom as soon as she had gotten home that night and ending with Austin asking her about it during Sunday lunch. It was now the first day of school and Sammie was sitting in her American history class, waiting for the bell ring to start class and trying to ignore the cheerleaders a couple of seats away whispering.

"His family goes to my church, and his mom said that she cheated on him and got knocked up."

"That doesn't surprise me, my grandma told me stories about her grandfather and mother."

Alessia slammed her hands on her desk and whirled around to look at the two blondes. "Do you have a problem? No? Great, now shut up." She turned back around, looking at Sammie next to her.

"Thanks, Lees~" Sammie said quietly, not looking up from where she was doodling in the corner of her planner.

"What are friends for?" Alessia said, lowering her voice slightly to prevent any eavesdroppers from hearing. "So did your mom make you an appointment yet?"

The 16-year-old nodded. "I have one Friday afternoon after school. It was the earliest they could fit me in without it being in the middle of the school day."

"And my Friday afternoon is officially cleared." Alessia stated, even making a show of crossing out that afternoon in her own planner.

Sammie managed to let out a small chuckle at her best friend's action. "Thanks, you're the best."

Sammie sat in the office of her mom's OB-GYN, filling out some paperwork, with her mom and best friend on either side of her. "This will be just like your annual checkup that you got at the doctor back in January," Sophia informed her, "except they'll also be doing a pap smear-"

"The doctor said I wouldn't have to get one until I was 21!" Sammie exclaimed, looking up from the paper work to look at her mom in worry.

"Typically, yes." Sophia said. "Unless you're sexually active before then, or if you're pregnant. They have to do it to check your cervix for abnormalities." Sophia went on to explain to her daughter exactly what she could expect to happen at the appointment until they were called back.

Her mom had definitely been right about it being like her doctor checkup, and despite her mom assuring her that the pap smear wouldn't be that bad, Sammie had mentally decided that the pap smear was the worst thing she had experienced in her life up to that point, cursing the spready tool of doom that she was not looking forward to encountering again in a year or so, as the gynecologist had said.

After finishing the checkup and getting the results of the urine test that confirmed she was indeed pregnant, the gynecologist was finally setting up the ultrasound, wanting to make sure the size of the baby matched with the date of conception Sammie had given her. Once her baby was seen on the screen, Sammie had trouble pulling her gaze away, completely entranced by the small, human like image in front of her. "Everything looks good, and the baby is measuring at 11 weeks 6 days." To overcome with emotion to speak, her mother took over speaking to the gynecologist about what all Sammie will need to do as she enters her second trimester, not moving until after the machine was shut down and printed off pictures were being handed to her.

When they arrived home, Yoongi jumped up from where he'd been not so patiently waiting on the couch. "How'd it go?" Yoongi asked his daughter and wife. "Is the baby okay?"

Sophia looked at Sammie, seeing if her daughter was up to answering. The 16-year-old was up for it, pulling out the pictures she'd received and showing them to her father. "It's perfect~"
