Jin - 24
Namjoon - 24
Yoongi - 7
Hoseok - 6
Jimin - 4
Taehyung - 4
Jungkook - 3"Come on, boys!" Seokjin exclaimed as they all climbed out of the van, blanket and picnic basket in his hands. "I'm hungry, and I can feel my stomach starting to eat itself."
Namjoon chuckled at his fiancé's words as he led the five young boys to the area of the park he deemed perfect for their picnic. It had been around a month since his very casual proposal, and the two of them had decided it was time they tell the boys so that they could get started on wedding planning. It had been Seokjin's idea to do something a little more special than just sitting them in the living room, as this was quite a big thing to drop on them.
"Did you pack Cheetos?" Hoseok asked, bouncing around Seokjin as the 24-year-old spread out their blanket.
"Of course, I did." Seokjin assured him, struggling to straighten the fabric out completely as the boys were already climbing on it to wait for their food. "And I got Jungkook's favorite banana milk."
The three-year-old clapped in excitement, shuffling on his knees towards the basket to dig through it and find his beloved drink. Once he'd found it and gotten Namjoon's help in sticking the straw in it, he lay down to stare up at the colorful trees above them. "It's pretty!" He giggled as he pointed to an orange leaf that had just slipped off a tree and was falling towards him. "Like Tewabifia!" They had watched the movie Bridge to Terabithia for their family movie night the night before, and Jungkook had been the only one to not cry as he had not quite understood that Leslie had died and instead focused on the pretty kingdom that she and Jesse had created.
"Yeah, it kind of is." Seokjin agreed, already tearing up at the thought of the movie that he had never failed to cry at. Namjoon distracted him by stealing a quick kiss while the boys were distracted by their sandwiches and snacks, successfully returning the smile to the 24-year old's face.
They let the boys enjoy their food and the view for a little bit before deciding to announce their engagement to them. "So, boys," the five of them looked up, cheeks puffed out from the amount of food they were all shoving in their mouths, "we actually have something to tell you."
"What is it, Jinnie?" Yoongi asked through his mouthful of peanut butter and jelly.
"Do you know what it means to be married?" Seokjin asked.
"You mean like the mommies and daddies of my classmates?" Hoseok asked, tilting his head.
Namjoon nodded. "Yeah, like that." He gave Seokjin a soft smile and took his hand before explaining further. "It's when two people love each other so much that they want to spend the rest of their lives together." Seokjin squeezed his hand as he added on, "and when they want to be recognized by the government to receive special benefits, but you guys are too young to understand that."
Seokjin playfully smacked Namjoon on the arm as the boys stared blankly at them, proving that they didn't understand. "Anyway, what we're wanting to tell you is that Joonie and I are getting married."
All of the boys perked up at that. "S-so J-Joonie-Joonie is-is g-going to be w-with us for-forever?" Taehyung asked with wide eyes.
"Yes," Seokjin chuckled as he nodded. "He's stuck with us."
"Is he going to live with us too?" Jimin asked, earning another confirmation from the two adults.
"It's going to be a little while," Seokjin explained, "but next summer, we're going to have a wedding, which is kind of like a little party with family and friends to celebrate people getting married. And then all of us will go on a little trip together as a family."
Jungkook's eyes snapped away from where he had been distracted by the reds, yellows, and oranges surrounding them and he looked at his adoptive father with wide eyes. "Family? He's going to be family?"
Namjoon nodded, scooping the three-year-old into his lap. "We're going to be one big family, Kookie."
The boys cheered, the older four launching themselves onto Namjoon's laugh too. "I think they're happy." Seokjin giggled.
"Really? What makes you think that?" Namjoon joked back, squeezing all of them in a big bear hug until Seokjin joined in.
