Usagi thirty seven

>>>>CHAPTER 37<<<<

"Hey Kid... What's wrong?" Anko sat across from her self-proclaimed daughter in the small tea shop, a look of concern on her face as she spoke.

"Today was shit." Usagi grumbled, taking a bite of her dango.

"Whoa, when did you start swearing?" Anko raised an eyebrow as she stared at the pouting redhead.

"When I met you."

"Is that a compliment or an insult?"

Cue death glare.

"If I could see your face, I'm sure that would be much scarier." Anko commented, looking at the red hair that covered the majority of Usagi’s face.

"... Ugh." Usagi’s head dropped down to the table. "Leave me alone."

Anko’s eyes widened. Usagi had never spoken to Anko like that before, not in such a meaningful way at least. She was acting like... a teenager.

"Kid, you know, bottling it in won't help at all."

The girls head raised from the table, one of ringed eyes visible.

"Come on, what's wrong Usagi."

It was one hell of an explanation. Usagi couldn’t tell Anko about Shukaku, or about what he had said… So instead she decided to tell Anko about a certain feeling she was having. A certain nervousness that would develop whenever she stood near or thought of a certain individual.

After the explanation, Anko couldn't help but giggle the slightest bit. 'Heheh... Usagi has a crush.'

"What's so funny?"

"Nothing." Anko tried to hold in her giggles. 'And she doesn't even realize she has a crush.'

And so Usagi was given a second 'talk', explaining the mushy feelings in your stomach you get when you look at a certain someone.

"Are you saying that I'm..." Usagi whispered, bringing her hands up to her reddening face.

"Use protection." Anko said, a cheeky smile on her face.

"Ew!!"

---- ---- ---- ----

Usagi returned home quite late, and very distraught.

It was 10:47, and she was curled up in the corner of her room hugging her knees and thinking.

'There's no way...' Her face grew pink. 'I-I can't possibly...'

Suddenly, an image of him came into her mind, and her pink cheeks turned the same colour as her hair.

"... Shit!" She cursed, quite loudly. Loud enough for Kakashi to hear.

He walked into the room. "Are you ok?" He asked, parental concern in his voice.

"Leave me to wallow… in my despair..." Usagi mumbled, lying down on her bed face down, hoping to cover her red cheeks.

"... So does that mean you're ok?"

"I'm fine." She said, her voice muffled by the mattress she was burying her face in.

A book was tossed at Usagi’s head. "Then don't curse." Kakashi scolded.

"... Ow." Was her delayed response.

So, Kakashi noticed Usagi was still acting a little strange. Instead of reacting like usual, pouting, yelling at him, or even throwing the book back at him, she just lay there.

"... Usagi..." He frowned. "Are you upset about the exams?"

She sat up, her blush having disappeared. "It’s a whole… bunch of things..."

Kakashi sat down next to Usagi. "You know, you have a whole month off. Rest up, and take it easy. I'm sure whatever's bothering you will fix itself."

"..." She looked down at the ground, then at her dad. "You think so?"

"Yep." He smiled, seeing the glimmer of innocent hope shining in her eyes. "Just focus on healing that arm. You've got plenty of time for other stuff."

With this small amount of wisdom inspiring her, Usagi smiled, pulling her dad into a hug. "Thanks, dad."

He pat her back. "No problem."

A total of ten seconds later, Usagi spoke up. "Can you make me some food?"

"Its 11pm."

She glanced at the clock. "It’s only 10:58... I'm hungry."

Kakashi stood up. "If I cook now, you're cooking tomorrow morning."

Usagi stood up in protest. "But… my arms broken!"

"So? That doesn't stop you from doing anything." He was completely right. He walked into the kitchen, a smirk on his face as Usagi stood, her mouth wide open in shock.

The amount of sass coming from them tonight was through the roof.

---- ---- ---- ----

Usagi spent the first two weeks of her month off writing.

Her book was now 250 pages long, and the story was heading to its conclusion, but when you write for too long without doing anything else, you tend to...

"Ugh!" Usagi jumped up, kicking her chair down to the ground.

She had writers block.

Stuck for an idea, she left the house. Kakashi wasn't home, nor had he been for a week. He was busy training Sasuke and was only home to sleep, so Usagi was sure to bring her keys with her.

Walking out into the streets of Konoha, she looked around. '... Where can I get inspiration from...? I could go visit someone. Neji maybe… but he’s probably busy practicing.’

Strolling along the main path of the village, she soon passed the hospital, where Sakura and Ino were sitting outside.

"Usagi!" Ino called out, noticing her mass of red hair. "Have you seen Sasuke anywhere?" Sakura, who was sitting next to Ino, looked at Usagi hopefully.

She shook her head, and was going to continue on her way, but paused when she heard the shouting of a nurse.

"Stop! What do you think you're doing?!"

Sakura and Ino turned around immediately after hearing the yelling and noticing that Usagi was staring at the scene.

It was Lee.

"Lee, please stop!! You're in no condition to-"

"Please, be quiet and leave me alone!" He said, sweat dripping from him as he continued to push himself up. Push-ups. In his poor condition he was doing push-ups. His body was too weak to hold up his weight, but the nurse and three girls were left speechless as he did so anyway.

Ino and Sakura watched on in horror. Usagi squeezed her eyes shut and clenched her fists. It was painful seeing Lee push himself, but stopping him would do no good.

And so he collapsed. His arm gave out and he fell to the floor. Ino and Sakura rushed over to help the nurse.

"Usagi, can you-" Ino turned around to ask the redhead for assistance, but stopped when she noticed.

Usagi was gone.

AN/ I MADE A NEW COVER FOR THE BOOK!! But I’m not uploading it until I reach the shippuden chapters. You have to wait! It’s really shitty, but hey I was bored and wanted to draw my oc. I've never actually shown a picture of what Usagi looks like, so I put a rather clear picture of her on the cover. But maybe it’s too shitty to even upload. Eh whatever. I’ll make up my mind when the time comes.

Chapter 44 marks the beginning of shippuden, so not long to go! If you read the AN on the last chap, I’m pretty sure I mentioned that it gets depressing. Yeah, starting from now shit’s going to get intense. As the last line says ‘Usagi was gone’, I feel like her sanity is declining the more that I write. But that’s spoilers.

Thank you for reading!
