Chapter 75

Usagi 75

"Tsunade used Katsuyu to protect the village. Ever since then, she's been unconscious."

Sakura let out a small sigh as she kneeled down next to Tsunade.

Her body had aged years and years as a consequence of using up all her chakra to protect the villagers during the battle with Pain.

Currently she was lying in a futon in a makeshift tent. The entire village was in tents, the destruction brought on by that intense battle reducing the village and its inhabitants to a rather pathetic state. The Konoha they all knew and loved was gone, and they were all completely defenceless.

"I don't know when she'll wake up." Sakura said.

Naruto stared down at Tsunade. Jokingly he had always called her granny and teased her about her age, but now, she actually looked like a granny.

The day after the battle, people got to work on repairing the village. Those who were in good health scavenged for recyclable materials, and those who were strong enough were building.

Naruto and Sakura seated themselves down on some planks of wood, both rather exhausted.

They had wanted to simply rest, so sit down and simply think for a while, but fate had other plans.

"Naruto! Sakura!" Two voices called out. 

A tall old man stood next to a young dark haired boy.

It took a moment, but Naruto and Sakura recognized them.

"Are you..." Sakura stood up.

"Inari and Tazuna!" Naruto greeted with a smile. "Inari, you're all grown up! And you look even older gramps!"

Tazuna let out a sigh as Inari grinned. "Give me a break..." The old man sighed. Still rude, even after all these years.

"I'm a carpenter now!" Inari said. "We came to help rebuild the Leaf!"

"And I thought I'd come and say hi while I was here." Tazuna said.

The two ninja were happy, this meeting rather nostalgic to them. 

"Thanks to you, the land of waves is a prosperous land now." Tazuna said.

"So now it's our turn to help you guys out!" Inari added on with a determined expression. He had become such a cheerful boy.

Naruto rubbed the back of his head, a little overwhelmed by this sudden meeting. "Hehe, thanks..." But the second he realized this Inari was the same little Inari Usagi had written a book for, the overwhelmed feeling left. "Did you read Usagi's book?!" He asked excitedly.

Inari nodded his head. "Yeah!" He returned Naruto's level of excitement. "She sent me copy before it was even published! It was really good! Is she here now?"

Naruto shook his head. "She's not here right now."

"Is she on a mission or something?" The boy asked.

"Somethin' like that."

There was some more small talk after that, Kakashi even showing up and greeting the two. It was a question they had been praying wouldn't come up, but of course it did. It was old Tazuna who had asked the question. "So, where's Sasuke? He on that mission as well?"

Sakura bit her lip, staring down at the ground. Where was Sasuke? She couldn't even answer that question.

Kakashi tried to answer. "Ah, the thing is... Sasuke has..." He paused, not sure how all four people around him would react with what he was about to say.

Naruto interrupted, saving Kakashi and Sakura from having to explain. "Sasuke and I had a fight, so he's left the village for a while. But I'll bring him back soon! And Usagi'll return soon too! You can say hi to both of them when they're back."

"What was the fight about?" Tazuna asked, an eyebrow raised. "Some form of love triangle?"

"Of course not!" Naruto laughed.

For a moment, things almost seemed normal.

But they were snapped back to reality very quickly.

Tazuna and Inari said goodbye, returning to their job of rebuilding the village.

A few minutes later, news spread among the citizens of Konoha. As Tsunade was unconscious and would be for Kami knows how long, Danzo was appointed as the new Hokage.

Kiba was the one who broke the news to Team Seven. "Tsunade's been dismissed as Hokage!" He said as he sat on Akamaru's back. He had ran there to alert them of the news. 

"What?!" Naruto's eyes went wide. Are they even allowed to do that?!

"The Sixth Hokage is some guy named Danzo... He put out an order... he's given permission for Usagi and Sasuke to be killed!"

Danzo sat back, a smile spread across his wrinkled face.

He had been beyond angry that Usagi had escaped his grasp. When all the dead Shinobi of the village had been resurrected, she had been one of them. He supposed it was his fault she got away though, he hadn't been quick enough.

But it didn't matter now. Danzo was Hokage now.

She had been lucky so far, but now was when her luck ended.

He put out the order to have her and her rouge teammate Sasuke killed almost immediately. 

The two of them were nothing but trouble, people he didn't want to deal with. Well, he didn't want to deal with them while they were alive anyway.

Both young rouges had such amazing eyes too... and soon both would be his. If they had chosen to follow him, they would have been amazing assets, but now that they had defied him, both would make lovely additions to his collection...

Ah, today truly was Danzo's lucky day.

Soon those two traitors would be out of the picture, their powers would be his, and the village would accept him as their leader.

Everything Danzo had ever done was for this village... it was about time everyone finally started appreciating him.

AN/ Yay an update!

What's been happening in the life of Author-Chan you ask?

Well. I've been sick this week and had to take some days off school so I wasn't dying in class, and in that time... I finished this story. This story is completely done, everything is edited and ready to post.

It's been a fun journey and taken a long time, but we're almost there! Twenty five more chapters, then this story is done! I'll continue to write AN with each update though because this is kinda like an anonymous diary and I really love writing them honestly ^_^ 

The school year is almost over for me, so I'll be a bit busy the next few weeks, but GOD DAMN IMMA UPDATE SO MUCH!!!!!!
