Usagi 67

>>>>CHAPTER 67<<<<

>>>>I'm Not Telling<<<<

Naruto had been depressed for a number of days following the news of his masters death.

He had been asked to help decode the message the Pervy Sage had left behind, but his mind was all over the place, unable to focus without thought of his late master clouding his mind.

It took a little while, but Shikamaru managed to cheer him up. Tsunade had put the Nara boy in charge of discovering the code's hidden meaning, and in order to do that, Naruto had to snap out of his depressed mood.

People die, Naruto needed to understand that, and instead of sulking, he needed to move forward and become even greater than his perverted teacher had been.

---- ---- ---- ----

Usagi's eyes snapped open as her cell door creaked open. Immediately, she sat upwards, staring at the person who had walked in.

Or people. Three ANBU had walked into her cell, followed by none other than Danzo.

"Cuff her." He ordered his ninja.

The ANBU did so, wrapping Usagi's tiny wrists in chakra restraints.

"..." Usagi stared at Danzo. What did he want now?

"Jiraiya has died." He said.

Usagi's eyes widened. No way... But how-

"He was killed by an Akatsuki member named Pain."

Usagi felt sick to her stomach, and it wasn't from the fact that she was still feeling incredibly ill. Nagato... Nagato had killed Jiraiya.

"I know you know something about this Pain."

Usagi frowned. "You... went through my memories..."

Danzo scoffed. "They only saw what you let them see. With those eyes, blocking memories from others is as simple as closing your eyes."

Usagi's lips twitched upwards, a smile forming on her face. So he knew. She had blocked out all her memories of the Akatsuki from any prying eyes. Why she had done so? She wasn't entirely sure. At first she had told herself it was so she could protect herself, so that she wouldn't be shunned for training with and trusting a criminal, but now she wasn't so sure.

Had she done it because she cared about Nagato? She had spent almost three years training with him... Even though she wanted to hate him, it was so difficult for her to do so.

"You better tell us everything about this Pain."

Usagi's smile widened. Oh fuck it, she was going to die soon anyway. "I'm not telling."

Danzo stared down at her, his one visible eye narrowed dangerously. "... Beat the information from her."

She knew all of Pain's secrets. But not a single one would she say.

It started with a punch, then a kick. They would ask her a question, she would smile and say 'I'm not telling'.

That was repeated for a solid ten minutes.

After that, they began punching with more force, kicking her so hard her bones would snap. They asked her questions. She smiled and said 'I'm not telling'.

They had to admit, they were impressed. Even grown men would have given in by that point, but not Usagi.

Even with multiple bones broken, torn and battered skin, and blood dripping from her mouth, she would just smile and repeat those words.

She wouldn't tell. She refused. Usagi now knew she didn't belong in the Leaf. Why give information to a village that didn't want her?

But she didn't belong to Akatsuki either...

Usagi was covered in cuts and bruises as they left, but they hadn't gotten a single word of information from her.

Usagi couldn't care less about Konoha. It was the people in the village she cared about.

If she could just kill Danzo... this village would be so much better off.

She hoped Nagato would come and attack the village, just so she could see Danzo's face as everything he loved burnt to the ground.

But she couldn't let such a thing happen. As much as she hated Danzo, she knew Kakashi loved this village. That was the reason why she was trying to protect it in the first place.

"We'll be back." Danzo said as he and the three ANBU walked away.

Usagi was relieved as they left. 'Finally... some peace... even if it's only for a short while.'

Little did Usagi know that their next meeting would be her last.

---- ---- ---- ----

"The real one isn't with them."

Naruto cocked his head to the side. "The hell does that mean?!"

Shikamaru stood up. "We'll have to speak with Fukasaku. He was there during the battle, so he should understand."

Finally, they had cracked the code.

It was unclear exactly what 'the real one' was meant to be, so they found themselves heading to the Hokage's office to find out.

'If only Usagi was here... She'd know what it was for sure.'

AN/ A short chapter with some very concerning sentences... So this chapter is pretty much like all the others.

I haven't been focussing on this story at all. Fuckin' school is pissing me off, stupid exams are coming up and I have assignments. And I've only been back at school for 4 days. But that's enough about that- I have to apologize for not having a chapter up yesterday. I figure having more than one a week makes up for it but eh part of me feels like I've let you guys down... I'll try and focus more on the story!

Thank you for reading~
