Chapter 45

Usagi 45

"Usagi, not a word of this is to be spoken to anybody."

Tsunade's words echoed through Usagi's mind as she jumped from branch to branch at top speed, rushing to get to the Sand.

Tsunade... she was far too kind to Usagi. Even after finding out about all that she had done, the blonde woman forgave the girl. Usagi had good intentions was what she had decided, the girl just had bad ways of going about those intentions.

'Tsunade... Thank you.' Usagi thought as she kept running.

"Reinforcements will be on their way as soon as we receive word from the Sand on the situation. I hate to send you on your own, but... you helped create the mess, it's only fair you fix it."

It took another day, but Usagi finally reached the sand.

She didn't stop in the village, she ran straight for the Akatsuki. They hadn't taken Gaara yet. She still had a chance to fix this.

She wasn't familiar with any members outside of the ones she had met. She knew Konan, Nagato, Itachi, and had heard of Kisame. Usagi was never actually involved with any Akatsuki business. They just kept her close because they would need her power in future.

"Shikamaru! Temari! Hey!" A young pink haired girl called out to the couple walking down the colourful streets of Konoha. "Hey! Look who's back!"

The young couple drew their attention to Sakura, the one who had been drawing their attention.

"Hey!" The boy, Shikamaru, smiled. "Naruto!"

"Ah!" Naruto, who had only just returned the previous day, had a huge grin on his face. "Shikamaru!"

Temari stood awkwardly, staring at Naruto. No way this was Naruto... he seemed so-

"Did you just get back?" Shikamaru asked.

"Nah, I got back yesterday." Naruto answered. He was so glad to be back.

"Something's different about you... you seem smarter, more serious."

The comment was amusing to Sakura, something that she deemed to be far from the truth. She let out a snort as she spoke. "Ha! You're way off!"

"Oh really?" 

Naruto pouted, his blue eyes sparkling with some form of hope that his pink haired teammate would see him in some form of new, mature light. "Eh, Sakura!!"
