>>>>CHAPTER 96<<<<

----skipping lots of boring fighting, getting to the good stuff. By this point the Konoha genin (now chunin/jonin) are all huddled together and fighting, the Kage are all unconscious thanks to the real Madara (who has been brought back thanks to the impure summoning jutsu), and Sasuke has revived Orochimaru. Sorry for the jump but Author-Chan is lazy and trying to keep the story at 100 chapters max----

As a young child, Usagi had always been rather curious of her adoptive father's background. She knew he had lost his father at an early age, and that his mother died while he was still just a baby, but knowing that never really explained his frequent visits to the memorial stone, the names of those who died in battle engraved on the grey stone.

It didn't take long for a strong bond to form between Kakashi and Usagi, but for Kakashi to completely open up was not so quick.

Usagi went with him to the stone countless times, sitting quietly and praying for all the names engraved.

"Rin Nohara and Obito Uchiha." On one of their many visits, when Usagi was six years old, Kakashi spoke up out of the blue. "... They were my teammates."

Immediately Usagi recognized both names, either of them being inscribed on the rock they sat before. She sat in silence, her gaze glued to the floor.

"I suppose it's about time I told you about them."

That was the first time Kakashi had spoken to Usagi about his past comrades, and while it wasn't the first of many times, it was first of more than enough. It was something Kakashi didn't like to speak about, so Usagi tried her best to never bring it up, but there were always times when a curious child accidentally said something they didn't think about before voicing.

In response to any questions Usagi would ask, he would always be sure to mention how kind his teammates were, though dysfunctional and rather immature at times.

The one time Usagi's curiosity had gotten the best of her and she found herself inquiring as to exactly how his teammates had met their end, he gave her a bittersweet smile and told her "I'll tell you when you're older."

But in the end, he never ended up telling her how they had died.

They were all apart of Team Minato, a team which in present day only had one living member.

Or at least, that's what they had thought.

Usagi knew that when someone was dead, they couldn't simply become alive again. Sure, there were jutsu like the one they had seen in the war which turned deceased shinobi into puppets, but that jutsu had long been stopped thanks to the efforts of Itachi and Sasuke Uchiha, the first of the two brother now finally able to rest in peace, and the latter able to finally understand and forgive his older brother. The point was, it was impossible for Obito Uchiha to have been revived.

Yet there he was, standing tall atop the husk of the Ten Tails.

The masked man who had claimed to be Madara, he was none other than Kakashi's dead friend.

His dead friend who had never died.

He was standing next to Madara, the real Madara, who was nothing but a revived version of what he used to be. Madara wasn't really alive, but Obito was.
