"Danzo is still watching you." Tsunade's brown eyes narrowed at her young cousin, her hands interlocked as they rested under her chin.

"... I know..." Usagi whispered her reply, standing in front of the desk her cousin was seated behind.

"Kakashi is still in hospital."

"... I know..." The girl repeated. She had visited him yesterday.

"The Akatsuki are planning their next move." Was Tsunade just listing all the things Usagi didn't want to hear?

Usagi glanced away, breaking the eye contact they had. "I... I know." She said again, a look of guilt on her face.

Tsunade sighed. "The elders didn't want me to send you out on any missions at all. They want to keep a close eye on you... but I need your skills, your connections."

Usagi looked at her older cousin again, her purple swirled eyes meeting Tsunade's once again.

"What exactly is your connection to the tailed beasts?"

Usagi's eyes widened. "Eh...?"

"I know, Usagi. I'm not an idiot. The Akatsuki want you because you somehow tie in with the tailed beasts." The busty woman leaned back in her chair. "I've thought about it day and night, and I know that's what it is... but I just can't figure out exactly how you're tied to them. You're not a jinchuriki... you don't have extraordinary chakra or anything either. The only real thing that makes you stand out is your rinnegan. Is it some kind of rinnegan jutsu? Do you have the ability to control the tailed demons? Usagi, whatever it is, please tell me..."

"It's not..." Usagi took a deep breath. This was a secret she had kept for years. Not even Kakashi knew... Gaara was the only person who knew, and she had originally planned on keeping it that way. "I... I don't have, a special jutsu... I... I can... talk..." She paused, unable to get the words out. No... It sounded so stupid. No way would Tsunade believe her.

The blonde gave Usagi a small smile, telling her to continue.

"I can talk... to the beasts..." Usagi said.

Tsunade stared, her jaw agape. "... Talk... and they listen to you?"

Usagi nodded. She had only spoken to Shukaku, but he had assured her the other tailed beasts would react to her the same way he did.

"So... essentially, you can control the tailed beasts."

Usagi shook her head. "No... not control... They're my friends."

Tsunade ran her hands through her hair. "Kami... Usagi why did you not say anything?! Do you realize how this power could have helped us?! It could have helped Naruto, it could have helped you! If I had known, I could have protected you from them!! This entire situation could have been avoided!!"

"No." Usagi said, her voice a little sharp. "... I... I have my reasons..."

"What reasons?!" Tsunade yelled.

"... I can't say..."

"Fucking hell... of course you can't!! You can barely say anything, can you?!"

Ouch.

Usagi stood tall, trying not to let the words hurt her, but now they were etched into her mind, always there, just like every other damned thing. She couldn't help the way she spoke, she hated her stutter. And Tsunade knew that.
