Usagi 59

>>>>CHAPTER 59<<<<

>>>>Hospitals, Ramen, and Girls<<<<

Usagi woke up in hospital, a frowning face staring down at her.

"... I let you leave the house for a day, and you come back on the brink of death?"

"..." Usagi didn't need to open her eyes to know who it was standing over the white bed where she lay. It was Kakashi. A very, very, very, pissed off Kakashi.

"You're so irresponsible." He said. "I don't know why I trust you at all sometimes, you're clumsy, lazy, secretive, and lately you've been so distant." He sighed, running a hand through his silver hair. "You're crazy. Stabbing yourself, then attacking while half your blood is pouring out of your body..."

There was a slight laugh in his words. Usagi opened her eyes.

"But you're alive." Kakashi said, his one visible eye meeting hers.

A smile came across Usagi's face. She was quiet for a moment, until her stomach rumbled rather loudly.

"..." It was difficult for her to speak, her throat being so dry and raw, but she did it anyway. "Dad... I want... strawberry mochi."

"..." Kakashi smiled, a fake smile to cover up the frown he was so close to showing. Only his daughter would ask for strawberry mochi after waking up from a deep sleep which could have very well been her last. Usagi really was something special. "... Shut the hell up."

Returning to the village after that mission had been an eventful time. Naruto had fractured his arm in multiple places, and was extremely upset that eating ramen would now be a very difficult thing for him to do.

In an effort to cheer up her friend and temporary roommate, Usagi offered to treat the blonde to some Ichiraku ramen.

"Oh wow, are you serious Usagi?!" He beamed. The two had been sharing a hospital room so that it was easier to treat them both, and also so neither would complain of being bored.

The redhead nodded. "We can... sneak out."

His smile turned sly. "Heheh I like the way you think..."

And that's how the two injured ninja found themselves very carefully crawling out of a second story hospital window.

Usagi was sure not to knock her torso on anything, and Naruto was sure to keep his arm away from any dangers the outside world possessed.

"... Nobody's watching." Naruto said as he helped Usagi down to the grass that was around the hospital.

Usagi really shouldn't have been walking around, but hey, she promised the boy ramen. And she wanted to just get outside for a while.

"Let's go." Usagi said. She was wearing a rather baggy t-shirt over the usual tight shorts she would wear under her Kimono. She wasn't allowed to put extra pressure in her chest, so her usual attire wasn't something she could wear until she had her stitches removed.

The two snuck out, walking down the streets of Konoha with a rather quiet demeanour. They were trying to blend in, but the poor condition they were in obvious to everyone who walked past them.

Both were rather pale and had visible bruising. Naruto's arm was wrapped in a sling, and Usagi couldn't even bend over or stretch.

"I've been meaning to talk to you..." Naruto began speaking, making conversation as they made their way to Ichiraku Ramen. "Your book, I read it, and it was really good. Pervy Sage was jealous, his first book barely sold at all, but yours is sold out in most stores." He laughed.
