Usagi seven

>>>>CHAPTER 7<<<<

>>>>The Mentally Challenged and the Ultimate Smartass<<<<

A few weeks have passed since Kakashi adopted Usagi.

She was always very quiet, but she spoke around Kakashi. Only him though. If anyone else was around, she would go completely quiet, using her notebook to communicate.

"You really like that book, don't you?" Kakashi smiled, noticing Usagi was still reading the book she bruised her face grabbing. 'Tales of a gutsy ninja', Kakashi had also enjoyed the book, recalling it was written by Jiraiya. Not his most popular book, but it was still very good.

Usagi had taken a liking to the book. Whenever she hads some spare time, she would always read a few pages. So far, she had read half the book.

"Dinners ready now." Kakashi said. Usagi bookmarked her page and ran to the table.

"Thanks for the food." Usagi chirped.

Miso soup with eggplant. It was Kakashi’s favourite food, and one of the only things he could cook successfully.

Kakashi would be out a lot with work, so he never took his time with Usagi for granted.

After washing the dishes, Kakashi and Usagi were going to spend the rest of the day studying, as Usagi had been slacking off lately. Note the words, going to.

Their plans were interrupted by a sudden yell. "KAKASHIIIIIIII!!" The front door broke smashed open. "My eternal rival, how could you?!"

"Usagi, you remember the man I told you to stay away from?" Usagi nodded. "This is him."

"I leave for a month, and you have a child?!" Guy yelled, anime tears streaming from his eyes. "How could you not tell me?"

"Because, you're a bad influence on Usagi's young mind. Now get out." Kakashi said bluntly.

The bowl haired man froze. "Get out...?" He unfroze, striking a flamboyant pose. "I am Might Guy, and the youth in that child is strong!"

He tried to approach Usagi, but Kakashi stopped him.

"You can't keep Usagi away from her uncle Guy!" Guy said, making Kakashi sweatdrop.

"What makes you her uncle?"

"The power of rivalry and youth!"

Usagi then decided to contribute to the conversation. She scribbled something on her notebook, then held it up for Guy and Kakashi to see.

[Is he mentally challenged?]

As Guy fell to the floor crying, Kakashi burst out laughing. "Yes, he is." Kakashi assured, patting Usagi on the head. It was moments like this that made him proud to be a father.

"Don't lie to your child!" Guy said, recovering from the insult. "Don't worry, Little Red! Uncle Guy will rescue you!"

"Little Red?" Kakashi questioned the nickname.

"Youthful, isn't it?" Guy asked with a smile. "Her bright red hair screams youth. Little Red is a fitting name, don't you think?"

"... Can you leave now?"

"Fine, but I will be back for Little Red, my eternal rival! Our newest challenge, fight for the love of Usagi!"

"Alright." Kakashi smirked, accepting the challenge.

"Farewell, youthful child!" With that, Guy left.

"... Your friends weird." Usagi commented.

"I know..." Kakashi sighed. How they ended up 'eternal rivals' was a very long story.

---- ---- ---- ----

Time flew as the two spent their time together.

Before they knew it, it was already May.

"School starts in a few weeks." Kakashi said.

"It does." Usagi nodded.

"... Do you think you're prepared to begin classes?" He asked. "It won't be too much for you?"

"It'll be fun." The little girl said, a faint smile on her face. "If I’m gonna become a good ninja like you, I have to go to the academy and learn."

Kakashi smiled at the comment. Usagi looked up to Kakashi. She was proud to call him her dad, and aspired to be like him.

"You're already a great ninja." Kakashi said. She had only had a tiny amount of physical training, but her grasp on all the fundamentals of chakra and jutsu’s was flawless. Thanks to her memory, she only needs to read or see something once to remember it, and being the smart girl she is, she understood the concepts very well.

"Thanks dad." Usagi grinned at Kakashi’s compliment.

The next few weeks, Kakashi helped train Usagi physically. She wasn't particularly strong, so improving her physical strength was something needed.

Before they knew it, it was June.

"Today's your first day, you don't want to be late." Kakashi said, hurrying Usagi up.

"I'm already late." Usagi noted, pointing to the clock on the wall.

Class had started an hour ago.

"Let's go!" Kakashi rushed, pushing Usagi out the door. Walking at a slightly faster pace than usual, the two made their way to the academy.

"Alright... Good luck. Be nice to everyone, and be respectful to your sensei. Oh, and have fun." Kakashi smiled, dropping off Usagi outside of the academy. "I'll pick you up here after school. Bye."

"Bye dad." Usagi waved as he disappeared in a cloud of smoke.

She then turned around and walked into the academy. Room 202. Second floor, second room.

As she made her way to her new classroom, she took in the sight of the academy around her. It was really big, and quiet at the moment, as class was running.

The only class that wasn't quiet was her class.

Noise could be heard from down the hall. Usagi approached the door quietly, scared of what was inside the room.

--Meanwhile, in the classroom--

"Sit down!" Iruka yelled. (AN/ I know that with the timeframe I'm doing the story in, Iruka should only be 14 years old, but in my story he is a never aging vampire that is and always will be 22... Actually he's 18 in my story. One year younger than Kakashi instead of four years younger. Deal with it.)

All the students sat down behind the desks.

"Alright class. My name is Iruka Umino. I will be your sensei during your academy years. First off, we'll be introducing ourselves to each other, starting with the front row."

Everyone was calling out their names in an orderly fashion until...

"IM NARUTO UZUMAKI!! BELIEVE IT!!"

--Back to Usagi’s world--

Usagi opened the classroom door once the yelling had died down.

"... You're late." A chunin at the front of the room looked slightly annoyed as a blonde kid glared at him. "I'm Iruka Umino, you're sensei. There's a few spare seats, sit wherever you like."

Usagi nodded and looked around the room. There were three spare seats. One was next to a pink haired girl, the other was next to a rather tubby kid who was eating a bag of chips, and the last seat was next to a boy who Usagi recognized as being from the same clan as her father.

In the end, Usagi sat down next to the pink haired girl, as she was sitting alone.

"Alright, now let’s continue with our introduct-"

"Why didn't she get in trouble?!" The blonde kid yelled.

"Because she’s showing proper respect by doing things like not interrupting me mid-sentence!" Iruka-Sensei snapped at the blonde boy.

"That's not fair, believe it!" The kid pouted.

"As I was saying, let’s continue with our introductions." Iruka sighed, pointing to a blonde girl, who was seated next to Naruto.

"I'm Ino Yamanaka." She said.

"I'm Sasuke Uchiha."

"Kiba Inuzuka."

"Shikamaru Nara."

"I-I'm Hinata Hyuga..."

"Shino Aburame."

Usagi was next. Everyone had their heads turned to her, waiting for her to say her name. She never said it.

"... Is something wrong?" Iruka asked. Usagi shook her head.

"... You're Usagi Hatake, right?" He asked, Usagi nodded in reply. "Right. Lord Hokage told me about you... Alright, let’s just keep going on with the next person."

"I'm Sakura Haruno."

"Choji Akimichi."

After that, another row of students introduced themselves, but Usagi had tuned out and began to gaze out the window.

After an hour of daydreaming, it was announced to be recess.

Making her was outside, Usagi realized that as she didn't talk, she would be outcast from the rest of the students.

Usagi didn't let that bother her. She sat down on a bench which was being shaded by a tree and ate her lunch peacefully... Until...

"This is my spot." Usagi looked up to see... A spiky black ponytail on the top of a boy’s head.

Instead of getting up and moving away, Usagi simply moved her backpack off of the chair, making room for the boy.

With a shrug he sat down. Usagi wasn't sure why he didn't just sit down anyway. The bench could easily fit another person on it, so there was no need for her to move away.

"You're names Usagi right?" The boy asked. She nodded yes. "I'm Shikamaru."

After Usagi didn't say anything back, Shikamaru asked her a question.

"Can't you talk?" Usagi shook her head. "So you can talk?" Usagi nodded. "Is there are reason you don't talk?"

Usagi shrugged. The two then went on to watch the clouds... Until someone else showed up.

"Hey! Do you wanna play ninja with us?" A young boy asked Shikamaru.

"Nah. Too troublesome."

"But we need one more person to play."

"Usagi can play with you." Shikamaru said with a sigh.

"No way. She's too small." The boy commented. Usagi hadn't grown at all over the past ten months. The doctor wasn't kidding when he said the poison would stunt her growth. She was a head shorter than almost all the other students her age.

"Whatever." Shikamaru scoffed. "I'm not playing. I'd rather watch the clouds."

The boy walked away, annoyance clear on his face.

Usagi pulled out her notebook and wrote down in it.

[You can play with them if you like. I don't mind sitting by myself.]

Shikamaru read the note. "I don't want to play anyway." He said, looking back up at the clouds. "Anyway... Where'd you learn to write like that? Not many people our age can read and write properly."

[I taught myself, and if not many people our age can read or write, how come you can?]

"My dad taught me to read when I was younger."

The two continued to watch the clouds, they noticed the kids playing ninja had excluded a boy. He was the boy who was kind of chubby.

Shikamaru noticed, but didn't do anything. If it continued, then he would have to do something about it.

... Or attempt to at least.

It’s the thought that counts though, right?

_____________________________________________________________________________

AN/ First days of school are always tough… I imagine ninja school would be even harder than regular school. But I’d rather go to ninja school than normal school. Gah normal school is killing me. Assignments coming at me left and right. That’s why I don’t update regularly, in case anybody was actually reading this and wanted to know. I’m sure there’s at least one person reading this book so hi :3

Thanks for reading!
