Chapter 30

Usagi thirty

'Where am I?' Usagi stood up. After that huge gust of wind blew her away, she managed to hit her head on something, which knocked her out pretty well.

Not being able to sense... Well, anyone's chakra, Usagi quickly activated her rinnegan, using the Animal Path.

'Summoning jutsu!' She slammed her hands to the ground.

"Bark Bark!!" Ringo jumped around. 'Whats up, Usagi?!'

'Ringo, I need you to find where my teammates are.' Usagi commanded.

'Im on it!' Ringo barked. After sniffing out the area, she jumped on top of Usagi’s head. 'The blonde one’s not too far from here!'

'Let’s go.' Usagi followed Ringo’s directions, and in a short amount of time, the two found Naruto.

"Usagi!" Naruto cheered, wiping blood off his face.

After seeing the giant dead snake on the ground, Usagi pieced what had happened together.

"Do you know where Sasuke and Sakura are?"

[Ringo knows.] Usagi pointed to the puppy.

"Bark Bark!"

"Watch out!" Sakura pointed to a giant snake.

After jumping out of attacking range, Sasuke threw a crowd of shuriken at it, killing the creature.

... But then, the grass ninja burst from the snake’s lifeless body.

"Heheh..." The ninja let out a dark chuckle. "Letting your guard down like that... You should always stay on your toes, like good prey. It makes the chase so much more interesting for the predator."

As the grass nin moved to attack, a crowd of shuriken stopped him in his tracks.

"Sorry Sasuke, but I can't remember that stupid password." Naruto and Usagi stood up high on a tree branch.

As Saukra smiled at her teammate’s appearance, Sasuke took another approach.

"Now would be a good time to run for your lives! This guys way out of our league!!"

Upon noticing the man, Ringo quickly informed Usagi of something. 'He's the one who's after you.'

'You mean... He's the snake?'

'Yup! Don't worry, Usagi. I'll protect you from the snake! Nagato asked me to keep you safe!'

'He did?'

'Yeah!' Ringo barked. 'He says that when you’re older, he'll come talk to you himself! But for now, I'm to watch over you, and help you train 'n' stuff!'

'Be sure to thank Nagato for me.' Usagi smiled. It was nice knowing that he had her back, despite not knowing her.

Anyway, snapping back to reality, Sasuke offered up his scroll. "If it's our scroll you want, just take it and go."

Naruro didn't like that one bit. "Sasuke! What the hell do you think you’re doing?!"

"Well done..." The snake laughed. "Giving up your scroll in an attempt to save your lives..."

As Sasuke tossed the scroll to the snake, Naruto jumped in and caught it.

"Say out of this!" Sasuke yelled. "You'll ruin everything!" Naruto then proceeded to punch Sasuke. "What are you doing?!"

"I forgot the stupid password, so I can't prove it... But this is obviously not the real Sasuke!" Naruro said.

"You idiot! It's me!" Sasuke said.

"That's bull!" Naruto spat. "And you're the idiot! You're a coward! The Sasuke I know isn't a coward, so you're a fake! I'm not so sure we need to be afraid of this guy... And even if we did hand over the scroll, there's no guarantee he'd spare us!"

"Oh Naruto." The snake laughed at his speech. "This is rich! And you're right, by the way... Why bother bargaining when I can simply kill you and take the scroll?"

He bit his thumb and drew blood across a scroll.

'Usagi!' Ringo barked. 'Quick, summon him!'

'Him?!' Usagi widened her eyes.

'Now!!' Ringo commanded.

"Summoning jutsu!" The snake called out, forming a hand sign.

'Summoning jutsu!' Usagi slammed her hands to the ground.

In a cloud of smoke, a giant snake and a giant lion with purple ringed eyes stood head to head.

"Impressive..." The grass ninja laughed. "But not good enough."

A second snake appeared, charging for Naruto.

As Naruto was tossed around, something... Clicked. Naruto’s second chakra became active.

'That boy is...' Ringo gasped. 'The nine tails.'

'So it is a tailed beast...' Usagi thought. Before Ringo could talk back, another voice boomed in Usagi’s head.

'Why have you summoned me?' The lion roared.

'Mufasa.' Usagi crouched down on his head. 'I need you to take care of those snakes.' (Yes, I named her lion summoning Mufasa.)

'Alright.' Mufasa sighed. Within the second, he charged at the snake, blowing a huge cloud of fire at it.

As the summonings fought, Usagi jumped down from Mufasa's head and ran to her teammate’s aid.

Naruto had just stopped the second snake from attacking Sasuke, and could probably use a hand.

Usagi quickly created three shadow clones. One was standing with Mufasa, and the other two stood by Usagi.

With her clones each activating a different rinnegan path, she was ready to fight.

The grass nin pulled Naruto up to his level, and put a strange seal on his stomach.

Once the seal had been completed, the ninja tossed Naruto’s unconscious body aside.

Usagi moved quickly, catching her teammate and resting him against a nearby tree.

'Watch out!!' Ringo barked.

As Usagi turned around, it was already too late. She had been thrown aside by the grass nin.

"Show me the true power of the rinnegan." He laughed.

Usagi stood up, but wobbled slightly. Right now, her head was throbbing. When the grass nin threw her aside, she hit her head once again.

Her shadow clones disappeared, along with Mufasa, who had successfully eliminated the two summoning snakes.

'Usagi, are you ok?!' Ringo barked.

'... Yeah.' She was panting heavily, signalling that she was not ok.

"Focus!" The grass nin charged at Usagi.

She missed the worst of the attack, but got her arm sliced rather deeply. 'I need to end this now!' Usagi thought in a panic.

Noticing the two were standing only a metre apart, Usagi focused her chakra to her palm.

Soon, the sound of a thousand chirping birds echoed through the forest. 'Chidori!'

She charged at the grass nin, but with his quick movements, and her pounding head, she missed.

Instead of puncturing his heart, she got his stomach.

"Nice try, but I'm still alive." He laughed, almost unaffected by the gaping hole in his stomach. He tossed Usagi to a nearby tree, where she noticed she was almost out of chakra.

"Sasuke!" Sakura yelled, snapping him to attention. "Usagi needs your help! Don't just stand there!"

With that wake up call, Sasuke moved in and helped Usagi by fighting the grass nin.

With his sharingan activated, Sasuke could clearly see where the ninja was moving and easily countered with his kunai and shuriken attached to string.

In a matter of seconds, fire travelled down the strings and onto the grass nins face.

"To have such great mastery of the sharingan at your age... Truly, a worthy successor to the honored Uchiha clan... And for such a young girl to have acquired the rinnegan... Your power is overwhelming. I have decided... I want you both after all!"

All three genin were suddenly paralysed where they stood.

"You really are his brother, aren't you..." The snake laughed. "You can see things Itachi never dreamed of!"

"Who the hell are you?!" Sasuke shouted. How did he know his brother?!

"I am Orochimaru. The giant snake. If you would ever like a rematch, then pass this exam as quickly as you can! I'll see you again if you manage to defeat the three sound nin who answer to me."

"What are you babbling about?!" Sakura spoke up. "We never want to see you again!"

Orochimaru went on to burn the heaven scroll Sasuke had sacrificed. "Perhaps not... But wishing won't chase me away."

'Oh no!' Ringo quickly ran to Usagis side as she saw the snake bite Sasuke’s neck. No way would she let that happen to Usagi.

As the snake charged for her, Ringo jumped into action.

"Bark Bark!!" A huge force surrounded Usagi and Ringo, completely protecting them from anything outside the barrier Ringo had created. 'Deva Path: Repelling Forcefield!'

The snake was pushed back a small distance as Ringo growled at him.

"How cute." He laughed. "Protecting your master, even though it won't do any good."

Usagi, who was barely conscious at this point, summoned up what little strength she had left and pulled out her fan.

With the wave of her fan, a rather nasty gash made its way across Orochimaru’s face.

After realizing that there was no way of getting past Ringo’s barrier, the snake called it quits for the day.

"I'll be back for you, Usagi."

As Sasuke fell to the floor in pain, Sakura screamed out. "What did you do to Sasuke?!"

"I just gave him a little something to remember me by..." He disappeared after leaving those ominous words.

Ringo dropped the barrier and jumped back on top of Usagi’s head. 'You alright?'

'I've been better.' Usagi sighed, standing up and putting her fan away.

It was while Usagi grabbed the unconscious Naruro that Sasuke completely fell to ground. "Aagh!" He screamed out in pain.

Usagi rushed over to him, setting Naruro down beside him.

"Sasuke!!" Sakura panicked, unsure of what to do.

'Thats...' Usagi gasped as she saw the three little dots on his neck. 'That's the exact same mark Anko has... The curse mark.'

"What do we do?" Sakura asked Usagi, tears streaming down her face.

Usagi grabbed Sasuke, who had now lost all consciousness, in one arm, and Naruto in the other.

"W-What are you..."

"Bark Bark!!" Ringo jumped on Usagi’s head. 'Stop, Usagi! You're losing blood and your low on chakra! Not to mention you've hit your head!'

'But we can't stay here in the open... Not far from here, there was a...' Usagi stumbled as she started walking.

"Are you alright?" Sakura asked.

Usagi nodded.

'No you're not!' Ringo barked. ‘You're about to pass out!'

'Ringo... I'm fine...' Usagi’s breathing grew heavy.

After what seemed like an eternity, they rested in a somewhat secure tree, which had an almost cave like opening to it.

Usagi sighed as she set the two boys down. As she was walking, they started to get really heavy in her arms.

'Usagi, please get some rest! Your chakra is-' As if on cue, Ringo poofed away in a cloud of smoke.

Usagi didn't have enough chakra to keep the summoning jutsu going.

[Are you alright to take care of Naruto and Sasuke?] Usagi scribbled the words down messily, weakly passing her notebook to Sakura.

"Uh, y-yeah." She stuttered, still very shaken up.

[Are you sure?]

"You're tired, aren't you?" Sakura asked. "G-Get some rest. I'll look after everything."

Usagi tried her best to stay awake, but the pounding in her head made it awfully hard to do so.

So, after a short struggle, Usagi gave in to her desire to sleep and let herself drift into the dream world.

AN/ So a short story I wrote for English class is apparently not allowed to be graded as it is because it goes over the word limit. Fuck my life.

Anyway, another week another update so please enjoy. Maybe I’ll post my short story to wattpad one day.
