"I've located Usagi!" Neji announced to the group of ninja that stood around.

"Where is she?" Naruto asked. "Does she have Gaara with her?!"

"She does..." Neji said, but then his expression turned dull.

Kakashi, Naruto, Sakura and Chiyo had met up with team Guy after defeating the Akatsuki members.

Chiyo was on the verge of death, Sakura had suffered a near fatal wound, Naruto had almost let the Kyuubi take over, and Kakashi had exhausted his chakra. Team Guy were also in poor condition, but compared to the others they were in near perfect health.

"Usagi's... performing medical ninjutsu?" Neji was confused at what he saw. He knew Usagi, and he knew her skills. And he knew Usagi did not know any medical ninjutsu.

"..." Kakashi's face paled. "She doesn't know medical ninjutsu." He stated.

Guy spoke up. "Then what could she..."

Kakashi shot up from where he stood. "Where is she?! Usagi, she's going to-"

Usagi sat with her hands pressed over Gaara's chest. Beads of sweat ran down her forehead as her chakra was drained from her.

'... This is a lot harder than I thought it would be...' Usagi panted, growing the slightest bit lightheaded.

She had been at it for half an hour now, and still Gaara was showing no signs of life.

She was doing everything right, she was doing everything the scroll had said. She was performing the rinne rebirth jutsu, using the legendary outer path, so why was it not working?

Usagi could feel herself growing weak. Her hair, which was fanned out around her, was turning dull.

Usagi knew that a risk to using this jutsu was death, but people needed Gaara. He was the Kazekage! His village needed him. His friends needed him.

Usagi doubted she would die from performing the jutsu, but she knew it would at the very least take a huge toll on her body.

"Usagi!!" A familiar voice called out.

'Oh shit.'

"Usagi!" As the voice grew closer, the more Usagi could hear the angry tone it spoke in.

Usagi did not turn around as a shadow cast over her back. "... Usagi." A low voice growled.

"... Hi dad."

"Shit..." Kakashi kneeled down next to her, his visible eye holding a mix of emotions. Concern, anger, sadness... Betrayal. "Usagi, you're really pale."

"... Yeah." She said, trying to conceal how sick she felt. "But I'm alive."

Soon everyone else crowded around.

"That jutsu..." Chiyo spoke up. "How do you know something like that?"

Usagi simply turned around and gave the old woman a glance.

Chiyo understood. It was her eyes. "... Let me help." The woman carefully walked over to Gaara and sat down.

Chiyo was dying. During her fight with Sasori, she had been poisoned. Sakura offered to run back to the village and make another antidote, but Chiyo refused. She was old. It was her time now. And she wanted to spend her last moments doing something right.
