Usagi 99
>>>>CHAPTER 99<<<<
>>>>The Life I Almost Had<<<<
"Good morning." Two strong arms wrapped around Usagi's body, a deep voice whispering into the small redhead's ear.
"G'morning." Usagi responded, gently turning her body around to better return the warm embrace of her husband.
The two stood, their bodies intertwined for a short while before Neji had pulled back, his hands tenderly hovering above Usagi's ever so slightly protruding stomach.
"How are you feeling?" He had asked.
"I'm fine." She responded with. She was better than fine. She was with her loving husband, carrying what would soon be their firstborn child.
"You told Kakashi about the child?"
"Of course." Usagi's voice was soft and silky smooth, not a single trace of her speech impediment to be heard as she spoke. "He was a little upset at first, but he's overjoyed about the fact he's going to be a grandfather."
Ah, their child was going to be so spoilt.
Usagi felt as if she had been blessed, reflecting on her life as she stood tall.
Truly and honestly, she had been blessed with such a beautiful life. She was given a beautiful husband, a loving father, caring friends, and her birth parents... her birth parents were proud of her.
She was starting a family, one she would be just as proud of and raise with all her heart. She would give it her all...
Well, she would have given in her all.
Usagi stood, her purple eyes grim as she stared at this vision of herself.
Her mind, it was all in her mind, nothing more than a mere dream. A lie.
In the reality she was from, this was nothing more than a pathetic wish. She couldn't start a family, not with Neji anyway. He was dead. And her birth parents... she couldn't even comprehend what they were doing in that dream, lovingly gazing at one another...
Happy. They seemed happy. But they were dead too in the real world.
... They had never looked that happy when Usagi was alive... They never looked happy at all.
But this dream wasn't showing Usagi her reality, it was showing her all the things she couldn't have, the things that had always been so close, just a millimetre away, but always too far for her to grasp.
The love and approval she had craved as a child, the need for that feeling had never left her. The thought of having a child was something Usagi wasn't really too fond of nor did she particularly want, but... if she were able to raise a child in a loving home unlike the one she had grown up in, maybe it would fill the painful void that Usagi had been left with.
... Neji had helped her fill that void, but he was gone now.
As she stared at the perfectly cruel scene that plated out before her, she knew it was time for her to wake up from this beautiful yet torturous dream. She wasn't sure where she would wake up, whether it would be heaven, hell, or what could either be the best or worst of her options, earth.
---- ---- ---- ----
Sakura sat crouched next to Usagi's weak body, her hands pressed over her small teammates bloodied stomach in an attempt to heal the completely torn skin and organs that lay in a mess underneath her.
