"Bailey!" Carina spotted the chief and jumped up from her seat.

Maya spotted the woman and immediately looked at her for answers. "Is- Is she okay?" she questioned frantically.

"Bailey, where is our daughter?" Carina questioned the women.

"Is- Is she awake? Please Bailey- Please tell us anything!" Maya pleaded with the women desperately, all she wanted to know was the condition of her daughter's health.

Carina looked at the shorter women. "Please tell us, Bailey, we can't keep waiting in despair," she said anxiously.

Bailey's face broke into a smile as she looked at the two women, "Shepherd did the craniotomy and it went well," she added.

"So- So that's good news, right?" Carina asked.

Bailey nodded her head in agreement. "Yes. It is good news," she told them.

Maya couldn't help but smile and breathe a sigh of relief. "Okay, ca-can we see her?" she asked.

"Soon. They're just bringing her in from the OR and making her comfortable in the ICU," Bailey told the two women.

"Bailey, why did it take so long?" Carina questioned curiously, as a doctor herself she knew there could be complications but as this was her daughter, she needed to know what happened exactly.

Bailey exhaled a sigh and looked at the two of them. "Okay so as you know, she suffered severe smoke inhalation so there were some slight complications, and she's developed respiratory failure," she paused before continuing to explain. "It seems her lungs and airway became inflamed, causing them to swell and block oxygen and due to the inflammation of the breathing tube it could be possible that she will develop asthma," She told them both.

"So, she may have Asthma?" Maya asked confused.

"Yes. It can happen randomly or after exposure to a trigger like an incident such as this one," Bailey explained.

"What about the burns on her arms and legs?" Carina wondered.

"The burns are on her arms and legs are bad, but they will heal with time although there will be scares," Bailey continued to explain to them.

"But she's going to be fine?" Maya questioned.

"Yes, Maddie's going to be just fine," Bailey reassured the two women as she smiled.

Carina let out a sigh of relief. "Oh, thank god!" she exclaimed. "Grazie, Bailey. Grazie! Grazie! Grazie!" she continued to exclaim.

Bailey chuckled and shook her head at the taller woman. "Don't thank me, thank Amelia-"

"I heard my name..." Amelia appeared in the waiting room, donned in scrubs and her white lab coat and her usual proud smirk on her face. "I just wanted to come and see the two of you myself," she added.

"Thank you, Amelia! Thank you, so much!" Maya exclaimed to the Neurosurgeon.

Amelia gave the blonde firefighter a warm smile and nodded while she shoved her hands in her lab coat pocket. "It's no problem, firefighter Barbie. As soon as I heard what had happened, I knew that I had to help so when Bailey paged me, I didn't hesitate to swap over with Nelson. I wasn't gonna let that kids' brain be operated on anyone other than myself!" she paused as she looked proud of herself. "I was a freakin' superhero in there if I do say so myself," she grinned.

Carina couldn't help but chuckle at her friends' antics. "Thank you so much, Amelia," she said.

"Not a problem," Amelia said as she nodded in their direction. "Alright, I better go head down to the daycare to pick up Scout before he forgets who I am." She laughed. "I'll swing by tomorrow before my shift. See you guys later," she added.
