"Whoa!" Jack walked over with Dean and looked shocked when he spotted the small puppy he had yet to see. "You have a tiny ankle-biter," he commented confused.

"Don't be mean to Lizzie, Uncle J!" Maddie said.

"Lizzie? Who is that?" Jack questioned further confused.

"My puppy, Uncle J! Duh!" Maddie exclaimed, motioning to the small puppy who was content just sitting between all of the adults.

"Awe, cute puppy!" Dean exclaimed as he moved to pet the tiny puppy.

"You would know, Miller. You have the experience as the puppy man," Andy couldn't help but comment, which made all the firefighters laugh.

"What?" Maddie asked confused.

"That's a story for another time, kiddo," Maya said as she chuckled.

Travis walked over and bent down to the puppy's level. "I wanted to come to meet this puppy of yours," he spoke and looked at Lizzie. "Well, aren't you just tiny and adorable, and I hope for the love of God, you don't take a liking to biting shoes, or destroying furniture" he gushed.

All of the adults couldn't help but laugh at Travis's speech to the tiny puppy who didn't bat an eyelid at his words.

"Maddie, look who's arrived!" Ben shouted out, walking through the back doors of the yard as Sarah followed him behind.

Maddie was quick to stand up and walk over to her girlfriend, who looked vividly upset but she still tried to keep a smile on her face. "Hey babe," she said as she pulled her girlfriend into her arms.

"Hey, babe!" Sarah said as she leaned in and pecked her girlfriend on the lips. "I'm sorry that I am late, I got into a slight argument with my mom," she explained.

Maddie frowned and looked at her girlfriend. "Oh, is everything okay?" she asked concerned.

"Uh yeah, I just really don't want to go home tonight," Sarah said as she looked down sadly.

"Well, you know that you can always stay over at mine. You know that my mom and mama wouldn't mind," Maddie told her girlfriend.

"Are you sure?" Sarah questioned wearily.

"Of course not- Hey, mom! Mama! Can Sarah spend the night?" Maddie called over to ask her two moms.

Maya nodded from where she stood near the table to grab another drink. "Yeah, sure, you're always welcome at ours Sarah. Right beautiful?" she looked over at Carina.

Carina nodded in agreement and smiled. "Absolutely!" she stated.

Sarah smiled in thanks at the two women. "Thanks, Maya. Thanks, Carina!" she said appreciatively.

"No worries, kid!" Maya called over from where she stood.

"See? I told you that they wouldn't mind," Maddie paused to look at her girlfriend who looked relieved. "Whatever has happened it will be okay," she added.

"Okay! It's time to open presents," Maya called out to get everyones' attention from where everyone sat or stood, having different conversations. The BBQ was a success, food was eaten and now all that was left was the presents and the cake.

"Even at her kids' birthday party, she is still the organized queen of the clipboard, Maya Bishop," Travis said in a loud whisper to Vic, that most people heard, including Maya.

"I heard that Montgomery!" Maya shouted to the attention of the male.

"You know that it's true Maya," Andy couldn't help but tease her best friend.
