Chapter 2: Forgiveness

3rd Person P.O.V.

Lapis has been settled in the house ever since Steven had introduced her to his home last night. Steven slept soundly, feeling exhausted from last night, although it was hard to sleep since his head was still hurt from Jasper's headbutt. This morning, he checked with Lapis, who was sitting on the couch, hugging her knees.

"Hey." Steven politely greeted. 

"Hey." Lapis said in a monotone voice.

"Are you feeling okay?" Steven asked with concern.

"Jasper tried forcing fusion on me..."

"I know, I was there."

"If you hadn't stopped her, I would have accepted her offer." Lapis feared the alternative.

"She's gone now. She fled."

"Jaspers never stop. They always keep going until they get what they want."

"The only thing she'll get if she keeps going is my fist going through her mouth and damaging her esophagus, if she even has one." Steven vowed.

"We don't know when she'll return. She's dangerous." 

"I know. But I can handle her." Steven noticed a crack on her gem. "You're cracked."

"It's because of my crack that I got caught." Lapis bemoans.

"I can fix it."

Lapis perked up. "Really? How?"

"Hold still." Steven licked his hand and placed it on her back. 

She shivered from the touch but felt her gem healing when his hand was applied there. Excited that her gem was fixed, she flew around the room in excitement.

"Calm down, please. You might break something." Steven gently warmed her.

She flew back down on the couch. "Sorry."

The main gems came in the living room to talk with Steven.

"Steven, we should talk about last night." Pearl said.

"What about?" Steven asks. 

"It's Peridot. She escaped and is on Earth somewhere." Garnet answered.

"You don't she'll look for us, right?" Pearl inquired.

"We weren't her priority. She was sent here to do something in the Kindergarten." Garnet assured.

"Do you think she's still going to try to reactivate it?" Pearl asked again.

"She better not." Steven imputes.

"If she gets it up and running, the injectors will turn back on." Garnet stated.

"We cannot let Peridot restart gem production here. If it happens, the planet will become... well..." Pearl trails off.

"Rotten. If it sucked the life out of the planet, then life will decrease and be eliminated." Steven imputed again. 

"You are correct. Which is why we fight for it. Don't worry, we'll stop her. Come on, let's go." Garnet went to the Warp Pad with everyone following her. 

Steven stopped and looked at Lapis. "Do you want to come with us?"

"No, I'm not ready yet. I hope you can understand that." Lapis replies. 

"I can. You can stay here and just chill out." Steven reassures. 

At the Kindergarten:

Steven and the gems were searching the area for any activity.
