The picture of Rose is fanart, which I know I made a big deal about not using fanart for thumbnails, but it's so very close to the original 2D version, I sometimes forget that some person drew Rose this way. Anyway, I made an exception for this case.

It's like the saying, "everyone gangsta until ___ does/is/gets ___"
So, the saying here is, "everyone gangsta until Rose gets serious."
Which also fits the one time I described Rose as, "top ten anime bosses that can't be killed."
One last thing, much similar to how Rose's speech is being sent through a British translator, old-timey people will have their speech ran through a Medieval translator (so expect thee, hast, etc).
3rd Person P.O.V.
500+ Years Ago:
A sophisticated farmer entered his home, quite fortunate that his house wasn't made of sticks or straw. He sets down his bag and grabbed a medieval potion bottle, with a cork on and a pink substance inside it. He plucked the cork out of the bottle and approached the table with a flower pot in the middle of it.
The pot contains a rose flower that just bloomed. He carefully poured some of the potion onto the flower, allowing its pink substance to dry on the flower's stem. He patiently waited for something to happen, but nothing happen.
So, he poured some more onto the plant, still nothing. And then he dumps the rest of the bottle onto the flower, the substance coating the plant with it. He waited for minutes and just when he was about to throw the flower away, two eyes opened at the flower's petals.
"W-What the...?" The farmer backed away, not expecting two eyes to appear.
And then a mouth formed underneath its eyes, making the flower look like it's alive.
