Chapter 16: Happy Valentine's Day

3rd Person P.O.V.

Earth:

Today is Valentine's Day, on Earth. But, Homeworld is also celebrating Valentine's Day as if it was Christmas or New Years. Steven is still on Earth, preparing to attend the party. 

Steven was anxious to attend a party, due to what happened at the ballroom at New Year's. What happened on New Year's? Steven was almost kidnapped by rebels during the party, thankfully, Obsidian was there to save him before it was too late.

It was also when Steven started making himself more scarce at Homeworld, because the rebels were just hungry to catch and kill him. And that's just the rebels, not including special cases like Moonlight. Steven has a huge target painted on his back, he can't just visit Homeworld casually.

Even though Steven is capable of handling himself, he is still human, and doesn't have the energy to keep fighting every single day, 24/7. Now, he's bracing himself for a fight, rather than being courteous at the party. Is it wrong for him to not really care about the party much?

Yes, but could you blame him? Steven really cares about the parties and such, but he can't be too soft, especially with the rebels after him. How come the rebels are after Steven instead of Obsidian?

Obsidian may be an enemy of the rebels, but they can't hunt her down, because no one knows who she is. Plus, Obsidian only came into the picture when Steven made himself present on Homeworld, making the rebels blame him more. The party starts in a few hours, giving Steven lots of time for preparations. 

Steven was given a surprise earlier today from his father. After everything he's been through in the last three months, Steven thought nothing could ever surprise him, but Greg proved him wrong today. 

"Steven, you mind coming outside for a bit?" Greg asked.

Steven put his book down. "What is it?" 

Greg smiled. "There's someone you might wanna meet."

Steven stood up. "Another businessman who wants to buy your music or needs a car washed?

"You could say that. But I really think you would like to meet this guy." Greg said, persistent on getting his son outside the house. 

Steven used to be happy to meet new people, but with his life getting more stressful with the rebels growing in numbers, he lost some of his old charm. Steven went outside and was greeted by a very familiar man in a suit. 

"Hello." The man in the suit said with a friendly smile.

Steven was shocked, in complete shock of this man's presence. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. 

"Bruce Wayne?" Steven said softly, not wanting to embarrass himself in front of them by raising his voice. 

Greg chuckled. "Yep, millionaire Bruce--"

"It's billionaire." Bruce Wayne corrected Greg. "Millionaires are so last year." 

"What are you doing here?" Steven asked the billionaire. 

"Well, it's not really an exciting story." Mr. Wayne started off. "I was thinking our elevator music was getting old and boring. So, I was listening to some of the greatest songs on the internet and your father's song got my attention."
