Chapter 18: Choking In Heritage

What I'm doing until the night (in the story) is over is I'm going to put a PNG image of Spinel in the thumbnail, because like I've said before, she's the star of attention (and she's attention-starved, so she needs it).

The Palace:

Obsidian just finished defeating the rebels who attacked the Palace in search of White Diamond. She left one rebel to interrogate. She never interrogated someone before, so she may be sluggish or bad at this. 

She wanted to hold this gem up off the ground with one arm, like what Steven does, but she wasn't quite strong enough to do that, White Diamond isn't strong enough to do that when she's 'small.' So, she did the easiest method of interrogation that Steven does. She pushed the rebel on the ground and put her foot on the side of her face to pin her on the ground. 

"Who sent you here?" Obsidian firmly questioned.

"I ain't a snitch!" The rebel barked, not giving up the details of their assault so easily.

Obsidian leaned down, applying more pressure to the rebel's head. "Do you have any idea how many of your friends I've sent to the penitentiary in the last month?" 

"Okay, okay!" The rebel quickly stopped trying to be tough. "We have many leaders, I can't identify them all, but I can tell you who sent us here." 

"Then, tell me." Obsidian demanded more information. 

"Jasper! The perfect quartz! She sent us here!" The rebel answered quickly. "I don't know where she is now, I swear!"

"Smart choice." Obsidian said before she crushed the rebel with her knee to poof her.

Obsidian let out a grunt when doing that, meaning she put a lot of effort into poofing one gem. She left the Palace and used her wrist grapple to grapple up to the top of the Palace. She needed to get the high ground to get a good view of Homeworld. 

Why was she up here? She wanted to see if there were any more rebels nearby the Palace to see if she could spy on them. There wasn't, so she needed to find more rebels to interrogate to figure out the rebellion's plans. 

She jumped down and started gliding around Homeworld, gaining altitude by dive bombing and steering up. She kept gliding around like a flying squirrel. She lands on top of a random building to take a break from gliding.

Surprisingly, gliding is tiring on one's arms. Obsidian can hear public chatter among the gems on the streets.

"Have you heard about Moonlight?" 

"What about her?" 

"She's gone underground. No one's seen her in a long time." 

"Really?"

"Yeah. She's been giving orders through her two personal helpers."

"I'm sure she's stressed about politics. She's running for governor this election, I can't imagine the pressure of being the governor, especially with Era-3 changing everything and adding new rules and laws. She must have a headache trying to learn these changes after learning the old ones."
