Chapter 3: Secrets Revealed

I plan to update this story weekly, except it's not been a week since I last updated this. I wonder if I should do some sort of rant every time I update this. I have a new rant today.

The reason why I do rants on here is because I feel like it's somewhat good to sorta explain my thought processes to you guys, so you can figure out why I write some things in my stories. My greatest example of that is when people ask me, "Why don't you write Connie very much in a Steven Universe story?" Well, the answer of that awaits you in the rant in Chapter 1.

But other times, I just sometimes feel like having topics to discuss. I don't intend on pissing you or anyone else off with what I have to say, as most of it is my opinion. If you have any problems with what I wrote on the rants, feel free to comment your concerns/complaints, or just send me a message in Private Messaging on Wattpad.

I don't want to engage with a argument, if it pisses you off that much. The other reason why I write rants on here is because it's mostly Steven Universe rants, and basically people who reads this are Steven Universe fans/readers, so yeah. Now onto today's rant.

I strongly dislike the Diamond Spinel AU for a lot of reasons. Notice how I said dislike and not hate. Hate would be something I genuinely despise with all of my heart, while dislike is basically not my cup of tea. 

Before I get started, I want to say that Diamond Spinel AU belongs to Celestial Alpacaron, and do not send hate towards her or her comics, because the quality is absolutely breathtaking, and very similar/close to canon designs and she works very hard at it. This wouldn't be constructive criticism, this is just me explaining why this AU is not my cup of tea, and how it occasionally pisses me off. First reason is the creator ships Spinel with Jasper.

Spinel and Jasper, in my opinion, cannot and will never work. Now, ships in Steven Universe is pretty much controversial and things can be heated really quick because there's one of two people. The toxic Steven x Connie people who refuses any ships of Steven and a gem because they misuse the term pedophilia, and those people can fuck off. 

I want to briefly explain why Steven and gem pairings isn't pedophilia. Gems don't have an age, they're ageless, the show confirmed it such a long time ago. Why gems say they're x years old is the same way I would say how old a electronic device is.

I have a TV in my room that is over ten years old. Since I touch my TV a lot, doesn't that make me a pedophile? No, so it shouldn't be applied to gems as well.

Because they're rocks/robots, not people. There's probably a term for someone who is sexually attracted to rocks, which might be a better term for Steven and gem pairings, not pedophilia. The exact term of pedophilia is "sexual feelings to a minor/child."

Most of the Steven and gem pairings are romantic, not sexual. Romance does not equal sexual. They may walk and talk like humans, but they're not.

The second type of people of Steven Universe ships is those who are open minded and not bashing someone for their ship. Now, I normally do not have any problems for any ship, because it's all based on someone's opinion. Sometimes, it's questionable, definitely. 

Spinel and Jasper just doesn't work, in my opinion. They hardly have anything in common, other than they both tried to kill Steven and they both been screwed over by Pink Diamond. Both of their personalities does not combine well.

Jasper is a brick-headed brute who doesn't have a problem stooping to low levels just to get what she wants, and has no humility in her whatsoever. Spinel is a playful and somewhat adorable gem who just wants to be a friend. There's no way they'd ever be together, not without Jasper being toxic and immoral.

Jasper obviously has difficulty maintaining a relationship because she doesn't know how. The show made it clear she never learned from anything that happened to her, and if she did, then maybe I would be okay with any Jasper/gem ships in general.
