Chapter 24: Hide and Seek

That thumbnail is a barrel of fun, isn't it? I promise the confusion will be cleared up through this chapter and you won't comment clickbait. Oh, yeah, speaking of which, I completely gave up on the thumbnail challenge, like, two months ago.

There's also a modified song I'm using in this chapter. Why is it modified? To avoid copyright and to make it fit in this context, because if I just write the entire song, then it wouldn't entirely make sense. 

It's a Yandere song, too. And you all know where that song is going to. Yep, that's right, straight to White Diamond. I'm joking... or am I?

3rd Person P.O.V.

"What do you mean you don't know where he is?!" White Diamond asked. 

Volleyball cringed at White Diamond raising her voice. "The Crystal Gems all said that they wouldn't know where he would be, because he isolated himself for so long. The pearl that resides in his home told me that he needed to talk to you."

White Diamond's face burned up with pink. "H-He wanted to talk to me...?"

He must really trust her if he considered talking to her more than his own family. White Diamond and the other two Diamonds don't consider themselves part of Steven's family, because they think Steven doesn't consider them family as well. Well, that's what Blue and Yellow Diamond think. 

White Diamond knows that Steven himself is conflicted with considering them as family. The only reason why they treated Pink Diamond like a mother/daughter relationship is because Pink Diamond was too childish for her own good, if they hadn't try to discipline Pink Diamond, Pink Diamond would have actually been shattered.

Though, they've overdone their 'parenting' and that's what caused Pink Diamond to abandon them. Anyway, White Diamond refocused her attention in reality. 

"Do you have an idea where he could've gone?" White Diamond asked

Volleyball shook her head. "I'm afraid not, my Diamond. Perhaps you could go through the same route he took and make an educated guess where he could've gone."

"I suppose that I could do that." White Diamond went to her room. 

"Are you getting dressed for the search?" Volleyball asked.

White Diamond grabbed her costume. "Yes. Keep watch of the Palace and Samuel while I'm good, will you?"

Volleyball nodded. "Will do, my Diamond."

White Diamond changed her costume and left the Palace with her grapple. 

Elsewhere:

Obsidian was following a trail of footprints on the ground that Steven's shoes made. She can tell that these were Steven's footprints because every single gem's feet on Homeworld makes the same type of print, just in different sizes. And a human shoe is uniquely designed to be different.
