Warning: This chapter contains gore and possible scary topics to think about when putting yourself in the characters' shoes. And there's another Steven Universe rant, because honestly, it's like the trope this story has where I discuss something that's rather controversial and make it less controversial or change the perspective of it. This rant contains the mentioning of Adolf Hitler and The Holocaust.  

This rant, is the first one I actually dread discussing. Because of the fact people are comparing a real life terrorist to fictional terrorists. Today, we're going to talk about the Diamonds and whether or not they deserve their five minute redemption arc in Change Your Mind. 

So, lets get this off the table first, yes Change Your Mind rushed the development of the Diamonds. Yellow and Blue Diamond somewhat got their development after they crashed Garnet's wedding, but they basically went back to their old selves after they got on Homeworld. White Diamond literally had the least amount of screentime compared to the other Diamonds.

This is part of the undeserved hate for Steven Universe got back in 2019 (in January, which is eight months before the Movie was released). Yes, I think that the series got undeserved hate, and if you think otherwise, then good for you. Like I said, I'm really dreading this rant and I will be aggressive when I really get into the topic you all know I'm going to discuss after I get this out of the way.

If the Diamonds had more screentime getting their development, I feel like that would please the fans, because that's basically the main gripe, or half of it. Now, here's where things get twisted and makes me completely pissed off. I'm going to quote 45% of the comments I see about Change Your Mind's ending: "This show turned three space Hitlers into the good guys."

If you were in the same room with me when I read the comments, you would see how I almost broke my desk. The fact these fucking people have the nerve to compare the Diamonds to Adolf Hitler is just SO WRONG! HITLER KILLED THE JEWS BECAUSE OF ANTISEMITISM!

THE DIAMONDS NEVER SLAUGHTERED THE CREATURES AROUND THE GALAXY BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T FOLLOW THEIR RELIGION! They killed them because they were sucking life out of the planets. What's the difference?!

The Diamonds don't DISCRIMINATE when they conquer a planet! They're not like, "Oh, these are [insert whatever race]? We must kill them!" They're more like, "Oh, look! Another planet to add to our collection!"

Plus, there's a theory that they weren't even aware that they're slaughtering innocents. Why do I say that? Because Pink Diamond believed that her and her fellow Diamonds are making life out of nothing (implying that their way of creating gems doesn't destroy civilizations, which it does), and when she realized that they would be leeching the life on Earth, she wanted to stop. 

When the other Diamonds were presented with the idea that she (Pink Diamond) wanted to preserve the life on Earth and wanted to stop the colony, they just locked them (humans) up like animals. Yes, that's wrong, but they weren't like, "Good, kill them." They were more like, "So? Who cares?"

That still makes them villains, BUT NOT LIKE ADOLF HITLER! My stance on them is like what Steven said in the last chapter, "they're not pure evil. At best, you can call them greedy businesswomen." Because that's all they were.
