Chapter 20: Broken Heart Syndrome

This is kinda short because it's meant to serve as a little filler to give you an 'update' on our characters' lives.

Amethyst's P.O.V.

Earth:

I used to think that Era-2 was the darkest time in our lives, but after what happened on Valentine's Day, I think this is darker. Why? Because Steven is still... mourning.

It's been two weeks since the incident, and it's March 1st, for star's sake! I don't see why he's still upset over this. We've all taken a life at some point and they were all in self defense.

Steven doesn't need to feel bad about this, especially since it was Spinel he shattered. She was a monster, she did whatever she could to hurt him and us, she got what she deserved. Besides, we aren't worried about Steven's shatter, we're more worried about it's done to him.

He's cured and everything, but... something about the look on his face when he walked home. He looked like his face was frozen and he hardly blinked. Ever since he got home and slept for the rest of the night, he stayed in his room.

None of us have seen him since he went home on Valentine's Day. We tried to see if he'd come out to eat or to do something, but he stayed in his room. We all think he only leaves to use the bathroom, but he must be waiting until we all leave, because he never leaves when we're around. 

I guess it ain't hard for him to do that, because he has that Detective Mode thing to check if someone is still here. We know he's still eating and drinking water, because Greg brings him food and he's the only one that can go in Steven's room. Whenever we try to open Steven's door, the door is locked.

And don't expect any of us to try to burst into Steven's room without permission. The last thing any of us want to do is tick Steven off. Whenever Greg comes in Steven's room and comes out, we ask him what's it like in there.

He says that Steven just sits in the corner, head behind his knees and silent. Greg says Steven never said a word during each time, despite how hard he tries to be civil with him. Greg even admits that Steven's being very unusual, and that was his words, not ours.

I will admit, when we act gloomy, we do what Steven is doing, but not to this extent. Steven probably lives in that corner in his room now, it's insane. If he keeps this up, we'll probably forget what he looks like. We already forgot his voice, and that's bad enough.

Oh... wait... since Rose Quartz, or Pink Diamond, made such a big deal about how we're better than Homeworld and shattering is wrong and all that. Since Steven broke that rule, does that mean he thinks we don't love him anymore? 

That's really sad and messed up. He shouldn't ever think that. We owe him so much for what he's done for us and saving countless lives, it would be very petty of us to be like that. 

We want to talk to him, and we do, but he never responds to what we say. It doesn't help us that we aren't sure if he's listening or ignoring us. I can't imagine what's going on in his head right now.
