A couple of hours before the big New Year's Eve celebration in our town, I went to pay Del and Scott a visit. I brought them a beautiful two-layer cake as a way to wish them a happy new year since Del chose to stay home. "This is such a sweet surprise, Carina", Del commented as she opened up the cake decorated with frosting that looked like roses, "I do feel bad I can't go with you this year, but I hope all of you have a great time. Make some happy memories that will promise us a good year, okay?' I smiled and nodded as I hugged her tightly and said to Scott, "You two have a great time and enjoy the cake. I'm so happy for both of you." He grinned as he replied with, "Thank you, Carina. Have fun tonight and give everyone our love." I nodded and waved goodbye to both of them as I walked out the front door and made my way back home to get ready for the party later.

It was going to be a long night since it was New Year's Eve, but I hoped to stay up long enough to enjoy spending it with everyone I loved. After showering and getting dressed, I was finally ready in a cute and simple outfit that I felt was perfect for tonight.

Now I was just waiting for Remington to pick me up after he was heading into town for something before coming back at our place for me

Now I was just waiting for Remington to pick me up after he was heading into town for something before coming back at our place for me. About a minute or so after 7:30 p.m., I heard someone knocking at my door and walked over to open it. I gasped at the sight of Remington wearing a stunning outfit that made me blush to admire how beautiful he looked as well as a lovely bouquet of black and white roses he was holding in his hands.

I tried to hide how much his look was making me flustered, but I failed as a knowing smirk appeared on Rem's face and he pulled me closer with his arm around me. "What's with that look, ma chérie?", he teased me while placing a soft hand on my cheek as he gazed into my eyes, "Don't try to hide the fact that you find me attractive. Not when I find you to be so fucking gorgeous." Damn him, my face was burning as it turned redder in response to him flustering me more than I wanted him to. He chuckled as he kissed my cheek and handed me the bouquet, I took it and it smelled so sweetly. I took a white rose and cut the stem of it a little before tucking it in the pocket of his jacket and I took a black rose to put in my hair. He smiled as he glanced between both of us and commented, "I think we may be the best-looking couple in this town." I laughed as he joined and then I kissed his lips gently before we finally began to head into town for the party.

When we finally got there, we met up with all of our friends and it warmed my heart to see everyone so happy. Nina pulled me aside to tell me, "I have great news, the music academy called me to tell me I've been scheduled to audition in April for a spot to enroll next year!" Her amazing news made my smile grow bigger as I hugged her tightly and congratulated her, "That's so great, Nina! I just know you're guaranteed to be accepted into the school!" She hugged me back as well and told me, "With support and faith from friends like you, I won't let anything stop me from going after what I want." That made me happy for her as we went to join our friends in the town center where it was all set up like a dream carnival with booths, food stands, and a stage set up in the middle of it all. Doing almost everything with my friends felt like a dream come true, but the best part of the night was when the mayor of Querencia announced a surprise request for Palaye Royale to perform for the residents of the town as a way of showing the town's support for the band's future.

It may have been the most touching moment for the boys: seeing the town who would've hated them for doing what they love instead turn out to be the first population of supportive fans to root for these former outcasts' success. I turned to Remington who was trying his hardest not to cry, especially when everyone around was cheering thr boys on. After taking in the emotional moment, they accepted the request as they walked up to the stage where some instruments and equipment were already set up for them. I was standing near the stage with the rest of our friends and loved ones as Remington held the microphone in his hands and spoke to the audience, "This means more to us than you could ever imagine, and we promise when we get big, we won't ever forget where we came from. Thank you, Querencia." The crowd cheered for them again before the band finally started playing a song from their upcoming record:

You'll never find all the things you want
Breaking free from the chains that haunts you
They will haunt you
From the watergates to the break of dawn
Keep finding the things that turn me on
Turning me on

We walk the transit streets
Until you find me
Until we finally met
And I'll say that

You got to die for something beautiful
Diamonds break our aching minds
Elegance is turning us sober
You'll regret the

Every time I see your face at night
Moving slowly through the wanted lights
Watermarks illuminate your eyes
Every time I see them make me want to cry

Shoot us down with all the lies
Crawl on your knees you might survive
You might survive
You delay the things you know you hide
Stained glass house will make you cry
It'll make you cry

We walk the transit streets
Until you find me
Until we finally met
And I'll say that

You got to die for something beautiful
Diamonds break our aching minds
Elegance is turning us sober
You'll regret the time

You got to die for something beautiful
Diamonds break our aching minds
Elegance is turning us sober
You'll regret the

Boy you got to stick to your guns
Before the crystals shoot out your mouth
Pack the walls before the lines fall out

Boy you got to stick to your guns
Before the crystals shoot out your mouth
Pack the walls before the lines fall out

Movement stops in the windmills
Finding out what killed you
Relapse in the sin
We start over again
Words just fade away
Finding the things to say
Relapse in the sin
Oh we go again

We are the youth
In a crowd of love
We fight for peace
Until the burnt out sun

Cuz we are the youth
In a crowd of love
We fight for peace
Until the burnt out sun

You got to die for something beautiful
Diamonds break our aching minds
Elegance is turning us sober
You'll regret the

As the band finished their song, the audience gave applause for the incredible performance and the positive energy was more than enough to make us all happy to be alive to enjoy this moment. Remington climbed off the stage to pull closer to him and wrap his arms around me as he kissed me like it would be the last time he ever would, the sweet embrace igniting my heart and making me love him more than anything I've ever loved before. It was the most memorable moment of tonight as we counted down the seconds till midnight and we felt blessed to look forward to a new year with new memories where a bright future was waiting for all of us.
