Harvard had a magic statue, it was hilarious plenty of people prayed to the statue. Hoping to pass their midterms.
Blake watched Addison take off her wedding rings, and pin it to her scrub top and patted it for good measure.
A few students truly believed in the magic it held, rubbing its nose for good luck and all sorts of things. I mean.. personally, I didn't — I mean I watched and laughed .. because I was the person that studied hard, read and reread, even if my memory was perfect..
Maybe if the girl in my first year did that too, she wouldn't have flunked out.
Blake followed her attending into the OR. She stood at the table.
But I suppose everybody has their little rituals, some rubs the nose of a statue, others recite a sonnet, some believes bad things comes in three.
Blake looked over to her attending under her lashes .
Some pat their wedding rings for good luck.
Personally? I had no room to speak, unknown to everyone and only known by my two best friends. I would recite their entire periodic table front to back before back to front. Yeah everyone's has their little superstitions..A blood vessel burst. The monitor started beeping harshly.
Thing is not even the little good luck routines we do stops death. When it comes it comes, it could be a burst vessel, a bleed or some kind of medical mystery.
"Call it Carmichael." Said Addison sadly
Blake looked up to the clock "time of death 8:17am"
Blake shook her head tossing her gown into the medical waste bin.
Death really doesn't care about it, rubbing a rabbits foot doesn't stop it, finding a four leaf clover doesn't make it halt. And rubbing and praying to a damn statue definitely doesn't make it think twice.

Intern locker room"Four surgeries, four fatalities and the day has barely started." Murmured George.
Blake sat on the bench reading her last email, a small smile working its way onto her lips. She caught Alex's eye. He looked sad, well maybe not to everyone else but she knew his looks, his expressions. When he stared at her, she tilted her head and offered him a secretive smile.
He raised a brow, the silent conversation was missed by the rest of the interns.
She shook her head in response. His eyes lit up a bit, No longer gloomy or as gloomy. She chuckled and slipped her phone back into her pocket.
"What do you have planned princess?" He asked with a raised and suspicious brow.
Blake grinned "A secret Alexander, one I'm sure you'll rather enjoy.."
Alex shook his head "You're being mean." He pouted adorably , at this the rest of the interns took note but he quickly shook away his pout and rolled his eyes at the rest of the interns. "So I talked to the morgue guy" he said clearing his throat and hopefully taking the attention away from his pout.
Blake snorted silently, she never understood why he was such a hard ass with everyone else, but a damn teddy bear with her and Kara. "Mm? The one with the unibrow?"
