Shahzain had finally gained courage to tell his parents.
They were as usual sittting in the living room having tea when Shahzain walked in casually and said.
"Wo ammi- aap kuch samay pehle shaadi ki baat kr rhi thi na. Wo mai taiyar hu."
(Sometime back you were talking about marriage. I am ready.)
He said and Haider choked on his tea.
"Beta insaan aisi baatein itni casually nhi krta hai. Aaram se baitho hamare saath."
(No one talks about something like this so casually. Come and sit with us.)
Shahzain rubbed his neck sheepishly and said.
"Ab isme baithna kya hai baba. Bata toh dia aapko."
(What is there to sit baba. I have told you.)
Kinza smiled and said.
"Arre bta toh dia. Ye bhi bta do ladki kaisi chahiye."
(You have told. Now tell us what kind of girl you want.)
She was happy her son had finally given thought to marriage.
"Wo ladki- umm- aap phupho ko rishta bhijwa de ammi."
(Girl-umm-you send phupho an alliance.)
He said and ran to him room feeling shy. It took his parents two minutes to understand what he said and when they did Haider ran to his room too.
"Ayee badmaash. Mere maasoom si bachi pr nazar rkhe baithe ho aur hume ab khabar ho rhi hai."
(Naughty boy. You had an eye on my innocent daughter and we never knew.)
He said twisted his ear playfully and Shahzain chuckled sheepishly.
"Sorry baba. Wo mai bas-"
(Sorry baba. I just-)
"Chhode na usse. Khushi ki baat hai ye. Aap Faatima aapi se baat kre."
(Leave him. This is good news. Talk to Fatima aapi.)
Haider smiled and nodded.
"Uske bachpan ki tamanna puri ho jaayegi."
(Her childhood wish will come true.)
He said and Shahzain looked his father confused.
"Fati hamesha kehti thi ki Allah ne kabhi usse beti se nawaza toh wo apne shehzaade ki shaadi apni beti se karwayegi agar dono raazi honge toh."
(Fati always said that if Allah ever gives her a daughter she will marry her daughter to her prince if both are ready.)
He grinned widely and Haider chucked at his son.
The very next day when the kids were in college both Kinza and Haider went to Fatima for Noor's hand for their son.
Fatima was more than happy to do so but wanted to confirm after asking her daughter. The couple nodded and said that they would never do anything that their gudiya doesn't want.
That day when Noor came home and laid on Fatima's lap she caressed her hair getting emotional.
"Kya hua ammi? Aap ro rhe ho?"
(What happened ammi? You are crying?)
Noor asked unaware of the reason behind the tears in her Ammi's eyes.
"Nhi meri bachi. Khushi ke aansu hai. Kitni badi ho tum itni jaldi."
(No. These are happy tears. You grew up so fast.)
