The nikkah was fixed for a month later and the rukhsati was decided after Noor's graduation.
The nikkah was right after their internal exams.
During the whole month Shahzain hadd never missed a chance of declaring his love for her. Verbally or through actions.
Noor had wanted to say it back to him but her shyness took over her everytime she opened her mouth to do so.
Today was their nikkah and everyone from the family and friends were gathered in the Khan house.
* I don't know much about the rituals. I have only read these in books. So please forgive your author if I make any mistakes.*
The hall was divided in two with a white parda in between.
Shahzain was sitting on one side of the parda. The maulvi asked Shahzain his consent for marriage.
"Qubool hai!"
He repeated three times and signed the Nikkah papers. All the men on his side chanted God's name and maulvi moved to the other side.
About 15 minutes later the other side too chanted God's name indicating Noor's consent for the marriage.
The parda between them was dropped and Shahzain's breath hitched.
There sat his newly wedded wife. His Ain. She looked ethereal in her pastel white joda. Her face glowing with happiness and a light blush coating her cheeks like it usually did in his presence.
The couple was then made to sit together.
"Nikkah Mubarak Ain!"
(Congratulations on the wedding Ain!)
Shahzain whispered near her ear. Noor blushed and mumbled.
"Aapko bhi."
(You too.)
Shahzain grinned widely and softly held her palm in his. She blushed deeper but let her hand where it was.
"Congratulations Noorie! Congratulations Jijaji!"
Aakriti and Disha giggled while emphasising on 'Jijaji'. Shahzain chuckled and thanked them while Noor glared at them.
Everyone congratulated the couple one by one and got their photos clicked.
After the ceremony Noor was sent to the room where Shahzain was allowed to meet her for some time.
Their wedding night was to be held after the rukhsati.
Noor was sitting on the bed waiting for him with her bated breath. She was giddy yet nervous. They would be alone for the first time. He was her husband now.
So many thoughts going on in her mind but she knew Shahzain and she knew he would never do anything to make her uncomfortable.
Noor's breath hitched when she heard the door open.
Shahzain came in and muttered a soft 'Ma sha allah' under his breath. His wife looked beautiful.
He sat near her maintaining a respectable distance not wanting to make her feel uncomfortable.
He took out a small box from his kurta pockets and forwarded it to her.
"Aapka tohfaa!"
(Your gift!)
Noor took the box from him.
"Shukriya!"
(Thank you!)
