Today, you awaken to the songs of birds. Confusion befalls you once more, and there is relief in its companionship. The setting is once again different. The date may also be different.
"Aunt [F.Name]?"
Your eyes slide over to the familiar voice. Your heart feels at ease at the sight of your nephew. "Yes, Kakashi?"
"I'm headed out for a mission. Can you tell my mother that?"
You inspect him quickly. You reckon his age to be near eighteen which means not a lot of time has passed. "Yes, I can... And what am I doing here again?"
Kakashi's mellow gaze does not waver. "You're always so airheaded. You said you wanted to talk with my parents about something. That's why I let you in."
"Oh." You cannot decipher for what reason you await their return. It must be important if you decide to wait at their home. "I see... Wait!"
There were many loose ends from your scattered memories that now with Kakashi here, you hope to reveal some truths. He pauses at your exclamation and spots the panicked yet curious stare. "Are you okay?"
You nod your head, "I think so, but I wanted to know about Izuna."
His eyes narrow in a way that you decipher as animosity. Something is amiss by his reaction but he smooths out any clues. "What about her?"
"Was she okay during the war?" Your voice becomes soft with caution. "I heard from Yusei that was acting oddly during it. I just want to make sure she's okay since she cut contact with me."
Kakashi ponders for a brief moment. You can see his mind fast at work, debating on whether to inform you of the truth. "Yusei sure is perceptive as always."
"Is there something wrong?"
Pity flashes across his gaze. "No... It's just that there are rumors that Izuna was involved with the mastermind behind the war and that your ex-husband is still alive."
"Izuna's father?"
"Yeah, but don't worry so much about it." Kakashi pats your shoulder, and you can feel his familial love for you. Despite the atrocities you bring, he still loves you as his aunt. "Lord Second has fought back adamantly to dispel the rumors throughout the entirety of the war."
You feel guilty upon hearing this. "Has he?"
"But the war was tough on Izuna. She did come back very... jaded. She won't tell me what happened and has been keeping to herself."
"I hope it isn't anything too serious."
Kakashi's expression tenses. "No... Not at all." He notices your apprehension and sighs, "See you later then."
