When you return home, you are guided into your dayroom. Madara appears to have finished the dilemma on hand and meets you there along with Akane. Tension fills the air as you all await the reason for your summons.
Yukino's grim expression does not alleviate any of your worries, and when he speaks, all of your emotions worsen. "There seems to be an issue with the recovery mission. We created the diversion, and she was able to escape."
"But?" You arch an eyebrow as you know there is more to the story.
Yukino hesitates before answering, "...It seems that her husband caught wind of her disappearance and sent an army after her."
You frown as you recline in your chair, your hands resting on your belly in hopes of finding some inner peace. "I paid a substantial amount for that not to happen."
"Yes, well, he has kept a watchful eye over her. To see him devoted in keeping your sister chained can only signify that he needs her for something."
You tap your fist against your chin as you conjure up a plan. "I am sure we have some shinobi that can escort her back."
"From what our people tell me, they have a whole fleet ready to invade Konoha should your sister touch land here."
You didn't expect such a response over a concubine, but the sounds of impending doom does bring some doubt into your plans. "What do you think will happen to her should we hand her back to the Emperor?"
"She will be imprisoned until she has served her use."
You glance up at Madara, who has been silent for the entirety of the conversation, and grab onto his sleeve. "Is there something we can do?"
Madara ruminates over the available options. "The Uchiha name is known far and wide. Surely, as head of the Uchiha family, you would be granted a juncture for negotiations."
"I should write a letter?" You tilt your head.
Madara eyes you, and you can spot the cogwheels in his brain turn with premonitions. You await his response as you know that his wisdom is crucial in situations such as these. A flicker of concern flashes across his gaze.
"I'd rather go there myself."
Your shock is brief, "But... I can just write a letter, no?"
"Do not use your name in this. Should they persecute an individual, it should not be you."
"Madara--"
"I will bring your other sister along to aid in the recovery," he adds.
You glance over at Akane, who seems mentally prepared to rescue the eldest sister. A part of you wishes for the strength to do so as well. You want to be more useful in these situations and not be barricaded by your inability to defend yourself. Must you always expect Madara to endanger himself for your sake?
