The gleam in the eye of a chemist returns once more.

Slaves. Slaves. Slaves.

Just when I had thought this world was somewhat decent to live in, it once again crushed my hopes and disappointed me.

How could I have missed something like this? I had studied numerous texts about different countries, their language, culture, strengths, and weaknesses as per the history lessons of Mr. Ennith; nothing about their current regime of hoarding large mass of individuals to harvest their top producing products; sugar cane of the various colors, cocoa beans, and rice.... None of that had ever rumbled up to the surface of my knowledge.

It didn't seem to be much of a secret to someone like Ronis, who had been born in a smaller town far from the capital of Klocsas and was able to pick up on it. This must be regular commoners' knowledge, on the other hand, the nobles of this realm turned their cheek to matters that didn't concern them, so long as they got what they desired.

I felt sick.

The thought that I was supporting this kind of barbaric treatment of people. The citizens of Espos were suffering and as a result, I got to indulge in delicious multi-flavored sugars and other delicacies.

I knew what I had to do, but the thought of having to commit to such a difficult position upset me. But what kind of person would I be if I participated in cruelty like this? It was settled then, I would boycott the sugar industry so long as I could get more information on Espos and the lifestyle that was being practiced there.

I needed to find a credible newspaper somewhere. If there was an active printing press putting out that junk of frivolous noble gossip then there had to be something more... straightforward for the general public. At least the ones that were able to read.

"M'lady! M'lady! You haven't said a word since we left the tea house. Have I done something to upset you? I'm afraid I have ruined your first outing as a lady." Ronis scurried beside me, her cider eyes frantic and observant as I continued parading my way down the streets in pursuit of a newspaper, the Plarinu Knights not too far behind us.

"You haven't upset me," I said simply.

"B-but...ever since I mentioned the Espos country, you've had this sour look on your face." She said.

"That is true," I replied.

My eyes continued to scan the city area for anybody waving around papers. Usually, people looked for papers like this, right? Or perhaps I had to go into some sort of convenience store to find one.

"Then it is factual that I am the case for your emotion, Lady Lavania." Ronis bowed her head in defeat and I shot half a look in her direction.

"Will you stop blaming yourself over there? I'm actually glad you told me

"Will you stop blaming yourself over there? I'm actually glad you told me. I'd rather not remain ignorant to important matters such as this... anyways I've decided I will boycott sweets from now on... as best as I can." I muttered the last part to myself with an angered hiss.
