A sister in me is one I've always needed.

The day of the free clinic had finally arrived.

It was about several weeks of planning on all our ends, both the Cotwens, Misi—otherwise known as Uma and myself to make this day a possibility, and most importantly, a success.

I was a bit worried on my end that all our efforts would be in vain especially since this concept of assisting struggling citizens was relatively uncommon if not rare. I thought surely many of them would think it was some sort of scam or perhaps even a joke and not bother to come by the apothecary to see what it was all about.

But I was completely wrong.

At first, things were a bit slow, a few bodies trickling here and there to get a short examination and questionnaire by Misi, but soon enough, word must have spread because now we were facing a line down the block of Vesnesians waiting for their turn into the shop for assistance.

Of course, they weren't exactly coming in for the check-up itself, it was more so the consolation gift for sitting through it that brought them in. Uma and I devised products that would really pull people in and make their waiting and compliance with the questions worth it and decided on a gift basket.

The basket itself was filled with necessities one would need to manage at home where they otherwise wouldn't have such access to such things.

Items such as higher quality heavy blankets, socks, and hats since winter was approaching us very soon. We added other items like free samples of balms, ointments, and small dosages of pain-relief medications, herbs, and supplement concoctions for ailments like fever, coughs, flu, and stomach aches. Misi's hygiene recommendation also pushed me to create larger batches of toothpaste, mouthwash, and even soap with washcloths to promote a cleaner environment for the commoners to live in.

While one basket had more wellness and personal care needs, the other was filled with packaged meats, loaves of bread, fruits, and vegetables; whatever could be purchased really. The apothecary made a deal with the nearby food vendors to provide such items for a fee of course that was paid by the pharmacy's tab so that the citizens could also have a few meals to cook and eat with their families. The meat was a luxury for such people to have along with top-shelf bread and having us provide it to them for free is what made them line up in droves, I have no doubt about that.

But I had to say, the biggest accomplishment of this clinic altogether wasn't just the baskets or the free healthcare itself but instead the newly-installed fountain-sink hybrid that we managed to connect with the well in the back of the apothecary. Not only was it now supplying fresh water into the lab and shop, but it was completely purified with the installation of the purification crystal I brought back with me from Cluyze.

Whatever water passed through that pump now was safe enough to drink, bathe, wash hands, and more with!
