Melinda
The princess of the castle, the queen of all hearts.
"And this will be your room until the wedding proceedings have been completed, Lavania."
I turned around a bit in the suite that I had been introduced to by Queen Kelena who had been my tour guide since this morning now comes afternoon.
The room we had stepped into located on the upper floors of Paurence Palace, the same palace Kiraz had spent his entire life growing up in was now my current accommodation pending our union in the coming future. It was standard protocol for the future wife of a prince to live within the palace before the marriage to get accustomed to the lifestyle the expectations of royal life.
In Cluyzian culture, this kind of custom worked when it came to whatever family had the higher title that the individual was marrying into, then that person would move in with the family accordingly.
I can't say I was excited because, in reality, I wasn't; many young ladies of similar ages would clamor for an opportunity to be Crown Princess, to live in the palace, and to be treated above their stature, but I knew the real ramifications of living here.
I knew it straight from my best friend. How much this was a gilded cage. Extravagant on the outside but a terror of having to always watch your back on the inside. Previous to my engagement, I was allowed my many freedoms; to parade about in the downtown city, spend my time exploring, working on business projects, and more.
The royal children of Vesneau did not have that luxury.
As important figures of the country, many times all their public outings were heavily surveyed as they were guarded against anyone bringing harm or scrutiny to them. Most people if they wanted to see them had to come to them, rather than the minimal times they got the chance to do the opposite.
I can only imagine what sheltered life like that could do to me. I would have no doubt runaway would be in my immediate plans had I been stuck in a similar situation, therefore I was grateful that was not the case for me.
I felt deeply for Runnie, had she the opportunity to do the things I could, would she able to accomplish as much?
I highly doubt it. Cause even I was allotted an allowance, the royal children had their things simply paid for if they needed or wanted them; they had no need to carry money or think of it. So it would be severely difficult for her, or someone similar like her to build without having an external figure assist them.
But I digress. Even on my first day in the palace, after spending the remaining days I had with my family in Skellace Estate, packing and picking out the servants that would come and stay with me in this unfamiliar territory, I still found myself itching to walk downtown and see the different sights since I've been gone.
Who wanted to stay in a luxurious dwelling such as this all day long? My mind was already spinning with boredom as we speak. There were only so many gardens, fountains, halls, and sitting rooms one could look at before growing dull in the eyes.
Though I was thankful for the companionship of the Queen, she was no short of lovely, smiling, and excitedly detailing all she was waiting to show me once I had become more settled in. Her job, outside of assisting with the wedding planning was to train me to be the future queen; the details which made the inner palaces work were her expertise and she was making it a goal to ensure I was well-adept.
Latona-Rune was also pretty excited to have me around now all the time as well, though she wasn't here to escort me about due to her training and lessons taking place at the current moment.
