Melinda
A deed to seal the deal of a Duchess.
"Potions."
I remember sitting up in my seat, alert and curious as I watched my instructor, Mr. Ennith pace from one side of the room to another.
"Potions!" Rhouben who was sitting beside me, watching his father move around with glee and amusement echoed his words with precision, clapping his hands. I smiled softly. He was quite clingy to his father most of these days so it wasn't much alarming to see the esteemed scholar walk into my study with young Rhou clutching his hand in an attempt to never let it go.
Mr. Ennith stopped his pacing just shortly to look over at his son with a warning glance. "Now Rhou, we talked about this. Behave while in Lady Lavania's class or I'll send you to your mother again, do you understand?"
Rhou covered his mouth, a few muffled giggles erupting from his lips in the process. "Okay, umo!" He replied diligently.
"Good."
Mr. Ennith returned to the chalkboard and wrote a few things down in Köy, all stemming from our lessons today which were based on what spiritual mages specialized heavily in.
The process and concoction of liquidizing herbal essence and distillation, otherwise known as potions brewing. That was the official dictionary definition of what Mr. Ennith was trying to explain. I had gone some extra reading on the subject as requested by my scholar to familiarize myself with the subject matter before class, so I was very interested, to say the least.
Even though I was a defense mage with a majority of my magic heavily focused on protection and combat, it did pay off to learn about the two other factions of sorcery shall I ever decide to need it in the future.
Elixirs, astrology studies, cosmic research, enchanting, and alchemy all stemmed in the realm of spiritual sorcery and something Mr. Ennith, a spiritual mage himself was quite adept at; taking the fact that he was also a top student at the academy, he was knowledgeable in great detail of what his particular faction was known for creating.
The power of specializing in the theoretical aspect of magic, using their extensive cognition of ancient magic, botany, and crystal research to create and innovate in their field, almost always promoted a brighter future for sorcerers alike. It was why Cluyze and Freu Prein were so advanced compared to their counterparts across the globe.
Those nations would always come first since they were constantly at an advantage through innovation.
"There are about four categories that potions can fall under, sometimes an elixir can comprise of multiple classifications giving it a multi-property effect." Mr. Ennith continued writing on the board. "The four sections of a potion are mind, spirit-soul, body, and sight-sense." He turned to me slowly, his eyes every so slightly grazing upon his son before returning to me.
"For example, you can drink a particular concoction whose goal is to alter the state of the mind almost if someone were elevating mentally... it can cause the drinker to see abnormal things, such things that could cause confuse others if they hear about it." Scholar Ennith lifted his finger up as if he had remembered something.
"And there could be a type of elixir whose primary goal is to heal mana influx or a particular alignment of the body... though the limit to that is dependent on how such a brew was created and how long its duration was curated for." He stated.
I thought for a moment, remembering Tychon's scheme with the mage to appear dead when he really wasn't. He had spoken of a potion of some sort that he drank that put him under such a deep sleep he was rendered dead to anyone from the outside.
