In a world where everything seems perfectly logical and pragmatic. The thought of anything existing outside of the realm of what one already knows seems impractical.
That is how Melinda Morrison sees life.
The very life where she has shared nearly e...

"Thank you for meeting with me Lady Lucilla."
"It has been far too long, Your Majesty. In fact, I was rather surprised you had sent for me."
"Why so? I thought of us to be good acquaintances during the time you stayed at Skellace Estate... though it was brief. We spoke on many topics alike."
In front of me, Lady Lucilla thefirst and eldest daughter of the Viscounty of Iavine had once been a young and stubborn seventeen-year-old that had no desire for marriage and had even gone as far as self-sabotaging her prospects during her time in the city of Klocasas. After her younger sister, Lady Thelka had found a husband, got engaged at fourteen, and married at sixteen years old, much time had passed; things have changed and certainly, the woman who was sitting in front of me now at twenty-four years had grown and matured to levels I have yet to uncover.

I didn't spend much time chatting with her over the years, I was rather busy with my businesses and whatnot, but I did overhear through Mother and Chandrelle's gossip that she had found a husband when she had turned twenty-one, but I didn't recall if it was someone of prominence or not. Essentially Lady Lucilla and her sister had faded into obscurity in society, or at least my head since I didn't pay much attention to the inner workings of the aristocratic totem pole.
But I did have a keen mind for remembering set skills. And Lady Lucilla was not only a very intelligent woman, but she was masterfully proficient in financial acumen. Her strong understanding of financial principles, accounting practices, and financial analysis techniques made her the perfect candidate to be the Minister of Finance.
You see during the time Lady Lucilla had spent in the presence of our family attending lavish parties, balls, banquets, and events with the objective of finding a spouse, we chatted about a lot of things. Books, particularly literature, culture, languages, history, and her favorite...
The economy.
In fact, Lucilla was so skilled with numbers budgeting, and economic strategies, I wondered to myself if she'd be a very good use to incorporate into my business. Alas, the idea was shot done rather quickly due to the fact that her family's estate was too far away for her to spend time commuting back and forth for something her parents would never allow her to partake in. Business.
Many times I mentioned she should take her talents to a bank or something that fancied dealing with cash because she had the wit and the foresight to turn even the toughest of situations around. She clearly had a mind worth expanding on, but the situations and circumstances she was born into left her at the mercy of others' wills and wants.
Regardless, I knew there would be a time I would cross paths with her once more and when that time came, I would ensure she would be put to great use, so long as her circumstances didn't change and I was in this great position of power.
